MHR 300 with Windsor was a tough class, not because the material was hard, but because the quizzes are poorly written and very confusing. The team projects are fine, not hard and not time intensive, but feel like they are graded randomly. That being said Windsor is a nice person.
The class is hard to get an A as he is a tough grader with group projects. James is nice and offers help often. The class has no mid terms or finals which is super nice, only unit tests. If you study and write good chapter notes an A is achievable. The group projects are not fun, but fairly easy.
he is a nice guy and overall a good teacher as well. the class meets once a week where he just sums up the week of material. it is not very engaging and I always just sat on my phone for an hour a week. he grades harshly on some homework and group projects. the tests are online, but hard and timed.
Last review was removed for unknown reasons. Again-- it's very difficult to get an A in this class, despite ridiculously simple concepts. You will mostly likely end up with an AB. He nickel and dimes you on every single assignment. Windsor's average is by far the lowest -- take it with another professor, even if it means taking the class in person.
James Windsor is an online professor that grades super super harshly with no guidance. There is no lecture, and the class is entirely self taught so I am not sure what his purpose is other than to be rude and condescending. He grades group projects and everything extremely harshly and his class is the lowest A percentage for no reason. nevertakehim
Generally, the management course is a joke as it is just polished common sense, it's an easy class and I only did poorly due to external factors. James is rude and appears to not understand empathy for his students. I never felt comfortable asking for help as he would make it a mission to condescend whenever he could. Highly do not recommend.
Due to it being an online class I think Mr. Windsor is extremely heavy handed with his grading and the test content is full of random auxiliary questions that only serve to test your patience and not your knowledge. Group projects are very difficult when you have a bad group and the Professor does not care about you at all. Abigail Herbst as well.
My class was online, lots of hw but I thought it was interesting and it helped on the quizzes. The setup of the class is user friendly. 5 open note quizzes, 3 easy group projects, 2 paper assignments which were on the harder end. The prof is so nice! The class was recently revamped so I think that's why there are older negative reviews.
Class is easy enough for an online 3-credit course. Textbook is simple but outdated and Windsor makes the midterm and final exam questions pretty confusing/irrelevant. Class is worth taking for the credits and to have a basic survey of the business world. Weekly discussion posts need a little effort but can be kinda fun!
This class was so boring but it was easy enough to do online. The discussion posts were annoyingly lengthy and graded so confusingly. Your grade will mostly be dependent on weekly quizzes on the textbook material. As far as Professor Windsor, I don't have much of an opinion because the class was just basically reading through an outdated textbook.
Prof. Windsor is a nice person and replies to emails promptly. However, that is the extent of the positive aspects. The tests are unreasonably difficult, making it impossible to receive an A. The midterm had a C average. Other graded projects are also reviewed harshly. Our team project was docked points off for not being "interesting enough".
For an online class not bad at all. Weekly tb readings that are necessary to do well on midterm and final. Lengthy dis post every week which gets a bit annoying but makes sense considering credit wise, short mini lecture videos to watch. Grading of the discussions can be hard sometimes but not bad. Two weekly assignments found on quizlet.
Took this class online. Very minimal work, besides the two big projects (one is a group project). He is very nice, however, his exams are extremely hard for no reason. The content is not difficult at all, but the exam questions are vague and arbitrary, and he does not even release the answer key so you can learn from mistakes or ask questions.
Prof. Windsor is a nice man and a good enough lecturer. His grading, however, is absurdly tough. It is nearly impossible to get an A. According to madgrades, 24% of MHR 300 students get an A while with Windsor only 8%. Grading is based on a ridiculously difficult midterm (high was a 93%, no curve) and an extremely arbitrarily graded group project.
I definitely learned a lot in this class, and I was excited to read more about it. As a psych major, this opened my eyes to the world of business, even if it was basic stuff. If I were you, make sure to study (at least a few hours) for the finals. The quizzes let you check your answers. Overall, not too hard if you get excited about the content.
The course material and supplemental resources used for this class were dry and pointless I hoped the 80 would hit me on my way to class so I would not have to show up. I know MHR 300 is part of the business core, but it is so redundant and menial that students are better off not taking this class, as it is a huge waste of their time.
He made his policies clear at the beginning of the semester. All homeworks are found on quizlet and the weekly discussions just required maybe 45 minutes of effort. Tests were hard, but they were open note and you just needed to understand the basic idea to succeed. Overall, friendly professor and interesting class.
The worst professor at this school
This class just sucks. You'll learn nothing from the class. 100% self-learning and the instructors won't provide any support for you. Idk why UW-madison has a class like this. What a shame.
He doesn't teach at all. You just need an online textbook - read it and finish the quizzes then that's it. Idk what his job is. It's just a self-learning class. However, guess what, his exams are way much more difficult than the quizzes. Didn't do well in exams? Ohoh, you should read the textbook more carefully!
Although the lectures and the information was entirely online, I thought it was a well put together class. James had a mini lecture for each chapter and it was a lot of fun. Honestly, this was really informative too.
This guy is worst professor I have encountered at UW. Not only does he require a 94% for an A while every other class on campus offers a 93% at their highest, he offers no extra credit, no reconsiderations of grades and no outside help. Exams dont follow class material or homework. Guy is an absolute jerk when you email him and inconsiderate.
Other professor's exams are much more straightforward than his, also he didn't curve the class, and to get an A you need a 95% which is ridiculously high for a business school class. Classes were unorganized and didn't even discuss material that would be on the exam.
