Takes too much effort for this 3 credit class, he expects you to only focus on his class. Overall I spent way too much time with him and I recommend that to get an A you show up and participate in class.Rate My Professors ↗
ATTENDANCE MATTERS! I was a couple minutes late most days before I found out it affected my grade. My grade suffered and he told me I could get it back up to an A if I did the extra credit assignments, which I thought was very fair, but he ended up not giving me the A anyways without telling me. James makes this class way too time consuming for what it is. Assigns 3 large projects for the semester, 2-3 readings per week that require one discussion post and one reply, and random thirds. Readings do not assist with learning whatsoever and when he teaches, he teaches what you should've known beforehand, afterhand. He is nice and approachable.Rate My Professors ↗
I really liked James as a teacher! Definitely a lot of reading outside of class and I had to get out of my comfort zone to participate in discussions but it ended up not being that bad. Pretty much your average English class.Rate My Professors ↗
He is incredibly nice, and he was good at making the material interesting. He is strict on attendance and does require a lot of engagement during the discussions. But he treats everyone with respect and is very helpful if you ask questions about readings or projects. Prof is nice and your stereotypical English teacher. Very strict on attendance though. Class is not hard, just involves a lot of creativity. You will have to talk in discussion. If you're good at writing it's pretty easy, if not you'll struggle a bit because you have a few different types of papers to write and a presentation project.Rate My Professors ↗
