There is a reason she has such great reviews. 235 is a super math heavy theory course, and you really need to engage with the content to do well. The entire grade is 3 exams, but its curved such that an 85 is an A. HW is important to stay engaged and keep understanding quantum mechanics. Out of every EE professor I've had, she is easily top 3.
There's no way people actually like Irena Knezevic. She: - bases your entire final score on 3 test grades, except if you don't do the homework, where you'll lose 10% - consistently runs over time despite having 3 power lectures weekly - Gives abysmally long homework assignments and gets them out like 3-4 days before due. one of the worst EE profs
Incredible professor. Goes into great detail in lectures and has a gift for teaching. I don't think I could have found a better professor for an intro to quantum mechanics class.
This was my favorite class but not anymore. We fell behind and instead of taking the appropriate measures to catch us back up, the professor just piled on more work. She assigned a long assignment with required readings during the last week. It sucks because the textbook is difficult to understand.
WOW! The most amazing professor. She lectures but is super prepared and adjusts to the class. She takes the time to explain everything and extended deadlines when needed. She learns everyone's names and really cares that her students succeed. There are not enough characters for me to go into detail about how amazing she is. BEST PROFESSOR AT UW!
Excellent professor, teaches very well. She did mention that most schools have 2 classes for electrodynamics while we just have 1. So this class is a bit compact. For me I think the speed was hard to follow, but not the professor's fault on that, just too much content. Also homework is very heavy, but that might be due to a lot of content.
Just wow. After 220 with Knezevic, I can definitively say that she is the GOLD STANDARD for what a prof should be in large-lecture oriented classes. She's funny, explains difficult topics well, gives HANDWRITTEN feedback on exams, and makes a genuine effort to interact with you and learn names. Tough course, but I cannot recommend her enough. 10/10
Prof Knezevic is a gem. Never seen an active research faculty so heavily invested in a 200 level course. Passionate about the material and wants u to learn. Gave several roadmaps on how 220 ties in with other ECE courses, again speechless at her dedication to the material. Ample office hours, is not hesistant to revise concepts to maintain clarity.
I can say she is the professor that gives the best lecture ever!! She went through everything clearly and frequently paused to ask whether students have any question!
It's just been 3 weeks, but Prof. Knezevic is really an awesome teacher. She will go over a topic multiple times till everyone in the class is sure of it, and doesn't hesistate going in depth if doubts arise. It's rare to find an ECE prof who doesn't have an apathetic nature to a 200 level class (looking at Zongfu Yu). Take her class if you can!
She's by far the best professor I've had. She's a super smart person who's fun to listen to. She personally grades exams and explains where you went wrong. If you're able to take a section of any class with her, do it.
By far my favorite professor Ive ever had at UW Madison. Your grade is determined by only 3 exams, but they are all very fair and she does curve the class. Such a great lecturer and always ready to help with any questions you have. Highly recommend taking a class with her!
Thought never gonna have a professor as experienced as prof Fabian Waleffe again, but she is just as good. Really a master of teaching and utilizes every second well and knows what to expect from the students. Lectures are perfectly planned, not just some copying and reading the textbook.
Irena is most likely the best lecturer you will ever encounter at UW. However, lectures may as well be mandatory because if you miss even one, you will be very far behind very fast. Accelerated learning pace, incredibly clear instruction and explanations, and fair (but long and involved) homeworks. Very easy exams if you did the HW.
probably the best prof. in ECE department of UW now. If you see her name in ECE 235, you know what to do.
One of the best professors I've had at Madison. She makes a tough subject interesting and engaging and her lectures are full of good bad jokes. Her homeworks can be tough, but she is super helpful in discussion and office hours and they're well worth doing because the her exams are mostly just homework questions and are relatively easy.
She's the best professor I've ever had so far. She inspires student and make you think instead of memorize materials. Grades are 100% on 4 exams and exams are not easy but if you do the homework and understand each question on the homework you'll be fine. Super helpful with students. Love this professor! Hope she teaches all my classes.
She challenges her students and assigns long homework assignments. The exams are too long and challenging for the amount of time given but she is very generous with a curve. She really cares that her students learn the material and is very helpful. Overall, really good professor
She is a decent instructor but she moves very fast during lecture. She assigns a lot of homework and the exams and long and challenging. She sets the average exams scores to a B or AB
Irena is an exceptionally gifted teacher. While exams are challenging and graded hard, she is more than fair in curving grades. Her sense of humor and quick wit add a degree of levity that make quantum physics bearable and at times even fun.
Prof knezevic comes out a bit cold and tough. but she's a good prof. only thing is she expects a lot from you. and she LOVES matlab and manages to have a problem or two on it in each homework set. Exams are fair. overall, a good professor
Professor makes everything really clear and makes sure that everyone understands the concept before proceeding to the next topic. She doesn't make students memorize equations. What she cares about the most is that the students understand and learn the material being covered. Tests are fair and not too hard. The classnotes she gave us is helpful too
