Good person but really tough grader.

Professor Johnson is a really kind person. You can tell that she cares about her students and wants everyone to do well. You have to put in the work and there are high expectations but that's how you end up knowing the language really well. It definitely is not an easy A so don't take it if that's what you are looking for but you will learn a lot.

I am a student who cares and attends every lecture no matter what class. I attended every lecture even though participation was not mandatory. I tried my best on every assignment and thought it would be noted. Sadly this was not the case (my major not being within Van Hise = Disadvantage). Was one point away from an AB and she did not care to help.

If you're a STEM/Business major looking for an easy literature class DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. I regret falling into the "Madgrades Trap" and not asking around about the Professor specifically. It was evident based on talking to others that STEM/Business majors are at a disadvantage. EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING is graded on her opinion.

felt like she didn't like me but idk that's just me. kinda interesting content but i wished i would have taken something else. tough grader but explained why. you always had to be there and were screwed if you missed an assignment. seems like other people had more positive experiences with her than i did.

Ida is a great person and devoted professor. She made our small class size of 6 work well and I enjoyed the discussion. Ida gives clear feedback and definitely knows a lot about the subject. Overall very interesting literature class and would take more with her.

She is very passionate about Norwegian, and also very knowledgeable. Grading is a bit tough, but she gives good feedback and is easily available. Clear she cares about her students and the Norwegian culture and language

Good class for learning the basics, she's nice but a tough grader. Expected to learn a lot of things on your own. Wouldn't be opposed to having her class again, but I wouldn't go out of my way for her. I learned what I expected to learn in this class, if you have an interest in it, I would say take it.

Bit of a tough grader but a very nice professor who truly cares about her students! I definitely enjoyed getting to know her over the semester and would recommend her to anyone.

New-ish professor and it really shows. Class was not college level in content and she spoke to us like we were children. The readings were light, but bland and not creatively explored in lecture. She is an extremely unreasonable grader, avg was ~14/20 in the class for one paper. No tolerance for late work or attendance. Pros: friendly, good slides.
