ECE 230 so the professor doesn't matter that much, but he was helpful whenever I asked him questions and had pretty good discussions on the previous week's topics.
PJ is the goat, always ready for class and knew how to work with us efficiently. Highly recommend.
He rushes discussions and refuses to explain intermediate steps. Avoid at all costs.
The class was taught mostly by the TA, so the quality will come down to who you get. The professor would come in and watch/help the class. He was very helpful whenever we would get stuck. Great at helping us walk through a problem and understand, rather than just giving us the answer.
PJ's my boy he's cracked with it. Helpful in class and super willing to work with us.
It is obvious that Professor Jiang doesn't care about teaching. He didn't plan any of the lessons himself; rather, he published videos of another professor teaching. In the rare occasion that he did make comments about the coursework, they were completely futile and unrelated. The class is a blow-off class, but still has interesting concepts.
He doesn't teach much since it is reverse-classroom taught and uses the automated grader. His discussion sections were okay, if you are confused on the topic, otherwise it's just him reiterating the basics. Office hours were extremely helpful and he makes sure you come to understand the problem by yourself instead of him explaining the solution.
He didn't teach our class much, and the setup was very bad. It wasn't very helpful, and the class is only taught by a TA. Thankfully, the class is ridiculously easy, and it is clear that it is a blowoff course, but it doesn't teach us anything.
The professor's teaching style is very bad, he has a sheet of one note that he writes on and is very difficult to follow.
He seems condescending to most, but it's only to people who pretend they know what they're talking about. He sees right through them. If you straight up tell him you don't understand and are respectful, he will slowly walk you through problems. Doesn't give out full scores easily unless it's impressive work, but he is a pretty lenient grader.
Professor Jiang is very patient. I took ECE 340 and now is taking ECE 542. The content of ECE 542 is his research focus; therefore, the homework sets are fun and creative. The projects are helpful for learning too. Strongly recommend!
The most condescending professor I have had. He makes you feel dumb for asking questions even if it is to clarify his terrible handwriting. The practice questions he does in class as a review are not a good representation of the tests. He also grades exams for correct answers, not for the correct process (aka no partial credit)
Exams are 80% of your grade and the 2 question midterms are intentionally tricky. The homework provided is not super helpful and the prof breezes through example questions in lecture. My advice is to find as much comprehesive circuit design practice online as possible (UIC has good material). Class: 1+12. Homework: 1+7-26. Exam: Peter has 3 ap...
This professor doesn't know how to clearly deliver lecture content. He lectures at a really fast pace and his handwriting is so awful that I spent half of the time in class trying to understand what he's writing. Homework problems are of little help to exams. No online materials at all. Only one TA for this class.
His lectures are all over the place; they're basically pointless! We get no practice whatsoever for the exams since the problems done in class are problems solved in the textbook and he doesn't post any old/practice exams... The homeworks are lengthy and not like the exams at all so you never know what to expect.
Lectures are not structured, cant get by without the textbook. Homeworks are lengthy and different from exam material. The problems he does in class are just problems already solved in the book.
