She is a wonderful instructor, explains complicated concepts in a simple way and truly cares about her students. She is also very encouraging and motivating and uplifts her students before the exam.
Hina is a caring, approachable, and super friendly instructor. She made this course easy to follow with her clear and to-the-point explanations. I was scared before taking this course due to its difficulty, but it ended up being one of my favorite courses. Thank you, Hina :)
Hina is very caring, and her exams were not hard but fair. You can certainly do well if you spend time in this course, as well as develop suitable strategies to attack problems. However, the workload is huge, but this is the problem of the course.
Has a bit of an accent, but is an extremely good explainer. Lectures can be dry at times since she uses fill-in outlines, but that's just how the course was always structured. Exams are very fair, Hina really cares about her students and is very friendly and goes out of her way to make her students feel like they can succeed in the course.
If you are taking this class, take it with Hina. It is such a dense course, but the way she explains it creates such a natural flow that it all makes sense when you are trying to apply it in the exam. She also has the kindest voice ever and is so receptive to questions. The class is very dense, so be prepared to put in the work.
Professor Mahmood is very supportive of her students and is confident in their ability to do well in the class! Most of the exam questions were similar to the homework problems, and were very fair.
I was not a fan of the class, lot's of busywork. However, mahmood was a fine professor, she was thoughtful and cared about our success. That being said, I do not enjoy 0 slides, paper pencil notesheets, nor busywork. If this content interests you, she will be great.
The best CS professor I've had. Broke everything down so it was easy to understand. Takes the time to make sure that students get it. Can tell she really cares about students doing well. Wish I could take all my CS classes with her!
One of the best CS professors! She explains the concepts very well and clearly, making it much easier to understand. She is also very caring and kind towards students. Exams are hard, but fair. Overall an amazing professor!
She is excellent at teaching and breaking down difficult topics to make them seem easy. Super helpful, approachable, and quickly responds to inquiries.
Great, kind, caring. Tough but totally fair exams. She's using an outdated and nonsense lesson plan from the CS department but she makes up for it with her ability to explain and teach. Strongly recommend her!
She is a wonderful instructor - helpful, supportive, professional and truly cares for her students!
She is a friendly and caring professor. Her lectures are clear, concise, and stay on topic. She runs the course in an organized manner. The projects are challenging but interesting with a transparent grading criteria. Exams are also fair. The course is enjoyable if you are willing to learn.
She is an excellent professor with a remarkable talent for explaining concepts—one of the best in the CS department.
The class mainly consists of filling in blanks on the lecture sheet. Exams have a high weight, with a total of three exams. Programming assignments are graded strictly.
shes aight basically reads off the lecture notes and doesn't go much into depth but she explains well
This is a hard course but the prof was pretty good at what she taught. She took time to explain difficult concepts and gave helpful examples. She was always available after lectures and during office hours to answer questions and never rushed. Projects were lengthy and need to be started early. Exams were also fair and mostly theoretical.
A difficult course taught pretty decently. Lectures were helpful in understanding the concepts. Projects are heavy, so better start working on them early. Prof was accessible outside the class and going to office hours always helped. She made sure my regrade concerns were addressed before the final exam and followed up with the TA herself.
Nice and supportive prof, very easy to talk to and cares about her students. Quickly responds to email inquiries. If you attend lectures, keep up with the readings and homeworks, you will be fine. Final exam was pretty easy. Would definitely recommend her!
This course is not easy, but the prof is pretty good. She is accessible outside the class and always willing to answer questions. Lectures are helpful in understanding the material, as she explains concepts in detail. Homeworks and exams were pretty fair. Do not take this course if you are not willing to learn and looking for an easy A.
Prof Mahmood is a dedicated and caring professor. She explains concepts thoroughly in class and is very accessible outside the class. She is extremely helpful during office hours and quickly responds to emails. She always makes sure that student concerns are effectively addressed in a timely manner.
This course is inherently difficult but she puts in every effort to make the lectures engaging and encourages student participation. She may not answer every question during the lecture due to time constraints, but is super approachable and helpful outside the class. She often runs over her office hours to ensure all student questions are addressed
This course is not easy and the assignments require significant time and effort. The exams were fair though. The prof is really nice, patient and approachable. She spent a significant amount of time with me explaining and reviewing exam questions, even though I was not officially enrolled in her section.
Dr. Mahmood is a super nice prof who actually cares about students a lot. Although I was officially enrolled in another section, she helped me whenever I went to her office hours. Her ability to explain complicated concepts in simple language is amazing. Not many professors make the effort to ensure that students truly understand the material.
The course itself is a bit dry but her straight, to-the-point teaching style makes it easy to understand difficult topics. She takes time to explain concepts and diagrams in detail, and asks for understanding before moving on to a new topic. She also revises concepts in every lecture and goes over things multiple times to reinforce understanding.
Dr. Mahmood is a professional and supportive professor. She is very engaging and does a great job at clearing concepts. Her explanations are clear and concise. Despite being new here, she has made a strong impression. I would gladly take another class with her. Strongly recommended!
Seemed a little rude/harsh, lectures had some backtracking and wasn't clear on concepts. Seems to be first time with this class though so maybe it can improve in the future.
