I do not know how people enjoy classes taught by Giri, he does not deserve this high of a rating. He makes the lecture videos for 210 and 342, and they are some of the most low-quality, boring, and mistake-ridden videos I have ever watched. Even on 2x speed they feel slow. He refuses to adapt to technology and makes sure that students do the same.

I have to be honest, Giri is a kind guy. But he is not a good professor. His lecture videos are full of inconsistencies, mistakes, and he follows a train of thought that only he can follow. In short, his videos do not make sense. I simply wouldn't recommend him as a professor, unless you enjoy attempting telepathic mind reading.

He is condescending and often just mean. He treats his students like middle schoolers. He's also very opinionated about how HE thinks you should learn. He thinks he knows better than you, always. His lectures are low quality, too numerous, and not very useful. All technology of any kind is banned from his classes. In a word, he's condescending.

Love Giri - was definitely the highlight of my day to have his class. I'm optimistic to have him teach other courses as well. Please Note: He doesn't like when students are on their phones in his class and takes it as disrespectful to his teaching. However, is very nice and teaches concepts on a more intuitive basis which I vastly prefer.

Giri is a kind and funny professor, and you can definitely learn good lessons from his teachings. Personally, I was not a huge fan of the structure of this class. Assignments were late to be graded which was difficult since they had weird stipulations like requiring thoughtful comments that were graded subjectively (thus differently) by the 3 TAs.

I have had Giri now for three classes (ECE 210, 342, and 304) and while he is a nice guy, his classes are disorganized, with him often late to post assignments but we are still expected to complete them on time. His classes are not difficult but he posts bad quality lecture videos and all technology is banned from his classes.

Very easy class as a whole with little interaction from the professor. Is purely participation points, and an easy A.

Very enjoyable and entertaining class. Always the highlight of my day!!

Nice professor, very patient

Other than the fact that his lectures are a little slow, he is an amazing professor who really cares whether or not his students are enjoying the subject and his lectures.

I'm so shocked by all of the negative ratings for Prof Giri! He's a little quirky but also compassionate, funny, and flexible. ECE 210 is really well structured (although sometimes things could be better explained), and is a pretty fun class. I wish I could interact with Giri more as every interaction I have had has been so positive!

ECE210 online with Professor Giri is a pretty good choice. His weekly lecture vids are informal and easy to follow (sometimes a little TOO slow). But the few times he stopped into discussion with the TAs, he made sure all the students are interacting and enjoying the class. He's really nice guy. I wish we had had more time interacting with HIM.

Professor Giri is incredibly fun for this course. Each week is very structured and clear, so you always know exactly what he wants you to be doing. Learning through working hands-on with the university-provided breadboard and components makes this class incredibly fun and rewarding for those with any interest in this type of work. Would recommend!

Wasn't patient when asking questions and unapproachable. I am smart but need to ask lots of questions and having a professor who is visibly irritated by this makes me feel badly.

Aside from the disorganization that seems to have been present in previous years, this year's shift to remote learning has restructured the class so that there is no communication between student and professor. I have only spoken to my TA, and I have to do so often because expectations are not clearly defined in this class.

Saturday classes

Lots of unnecessary work, it is very hard to understand what he teaches and his tangents are way too long. It is very hard to keep up with his numerous unorthodox expectations.

Unorganized.

Giri was the main instructor for the course, but swapped off with Mark Allie some days. He is very friendly, although somewhat eccentric. If you already have exposure to electronics the class is pretty much a joke and easy A, but you still have to show up. I wasn't a fan of the class organization, but it wasn't too bad.

I took ECE 210 with Giri and it was such a waste of time. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of important skills learned in this class, however, Giri is a spaz and treats students like middle schoolers. He yelled at me for using a pencil to draw a circuit. A pencil... He is so strict about these stupid ideas he has, like using highlighters also

Giri is a great guy, I wish I got to know him better! This semester he started doing online lectures. Don't worry about the grade, you'll get an A if you show up. Great introductory class, and Giri is more than a professor. He truly cares about his students and offers advising for future courses, careers, etc.

If you're looking for an easy A, you can't go wrong with Giri. Just makes sure you don't bring your cell phone or breath in the soldering gas.

The class itself didn't really keep my attention although it was a good class for basics. Giri did well my only issues were that the lectures mirrored the lab readings to an annoying degree and that he allows distractions in class to become bigger than they are.

Took his intro to electrical engineering 210. Very hands on lab, you learn a very board range on topics. A good introduction. Prof Giri is a pretty easy going guy. He will call you out if you're not paying attention in lecture.

Course was interesting enough, lots of soldering in lab. Wish he went deeper into the material, but it is a first introduction into the department. Lectures weren't very useful with regard to material, but Giri's musings are always entertaining. He is approachable, inspiring, and seems to care deeply about engaging his students.

Excellent professor. Not the easiest and requires a lot of work, but completely worth it. Doesn't teach out of the book at all but you learn more than you ever would with one.
