Tips to get an A- attend every class and for the papers just use quotes from the readers and rewrite what she said in class. I spent one total hour on every paper, put in zero effort and got an A on everything. Same with the exams. Warning: you will receive a bad grade if you do not attend lecture. Class was sooo boring, however, if you are looking for an easy literature course, take this. Exams super straight forward and papers were easy. Galina is also such an easy grader. I never read the reader unless to quote for papers (she talks about them in detail in class). If you want to get in A just attend lecture and no other effort is needed.Rate My Professors ↗
Lectures can be dry and nothing is online, but it is still a decent class. Galina is from Russia and is very humorous about Russian culture. There are 4 papers and quizzes, but they are fairly easy and as long as you pay attention in class, you'll do fine. Class is pretty mandatory, and readings are from the course reader.Rate My Professors ↗
OK.... So here's my review... I had taken Lit 234 prior to 233 and I received a good grade. I came into 233 expecting the same result. I put in the same effort and I flat out received bad grades for no apparent reason. The quiz short answers were either all write or all wrong. Same with the Essays. I either received an A or an F. I think Dr. Lapina is a very nice lady, however, she doesn't really understand that we as students don't have the knowledge about Russia that she does. She expects you to know every detail about the history of Russia the moment she's lectured it. I think she needs to realize that we have not been senior lecturers of this material for 20+ years.Rate My Professors ↗
Galina is a great teacher and knows her stuff about Soviet literature. She was born in the Soviet Union and is an authentic source. She does not run a website though and it can be hard to contact her. If you do your readings you will do just fine in the class.
