Florence is a GEM. She is the nicest human and cares so much about her students. Her class is challenging, especially the exams, but it's worth every second because of her warm nature. Do take her class and respect her, she deserves it.

Tough grader, but super nice and caring in class if you have any questions. Definitely one of the harder french classes I've taken (and i'm fluent) but Professor Vatan taught me some really interesting material!

Tremendous professor. Super kind and always happy, really cares about her students and what they're learning. Not a difficult class - have to do a presentation and a few short papers and tests but probably my easiest class of the semester. Take her 10 out of 10 times.

Mme Vatan is easily the best professor I've ever had at UW. She's incredibly kind and helpful, and genuinely cares about her students. My French improved more in one class with her than with any previous professor, because she knows how to balance challenging materials and required participation with encouragement and flexibility.

Florence is an awesome teacher. She really cares that all of her students do well. French is normally a very participation heavy class, but if you are shy or don't feel comfortable she gives you infinite ways to make up those points (same goes if you miss class). She is amazing at giving back feedback and is always available through email.

Mme Vatan is clearly engaged in her teaching, and I enjoy her intensity. She is generally a helpful professor. She is probably one of my favorite professors in the French department!

Mme Vatan is the gem of the French department! She explains things so clearly and calmly, she is very assuring. It was her first time teaching this course but I still learned a lot from her. She even took us out for coffee one class to relax before finals week! Don't hesitate on having her!

Prof Vatan is absolutely wonderful. She is passionate about French language and history and this is clearly conveyed by her knowledge of the subjects that she teaches. Long readings, but she explains them well and outlines what will be on the tests very clearly. Not the most interesting class, but would certainly take more classes with her.

I really loved my class with Mme Vatan. She was extremely helpful, interesting, and kind. Even though my class didn't participate much, she made sure that we had everything we needed to do well on the exams and paper. Can be a little dry at times, but overall one of the best French professors I've had so far.

Madame is super nice and brilliant. She is a fair grader and flexible. I really recommend reading the materials prior to class - discussions are what make up most of the class. That said, if you do know what you're talking about, she will enthusiastically engage in the discussion :)

I was a bit intimidated, because Madame is from Paris, but she's really nice. She'll gently correct your grammar while you're speaking, but on assignments she's a pretty generous grader. She really enjoys the material and knows a lot, but I recommend reading the assigned textbook chapters-she doesn't always cover all the exam material in class.
