Profe Fernando was a pretty good professor with pretty engaging lectures and he is really energetic and funny. It can be slightly difficult to understand him at times, and his slides that he posts can be best understood when you're in lecture, its hard to understand if not. Also, the first couple weeks of this class are the hardest, lock in asap.

I liked Fernando a lot as a lecturer, but the course itself was super fast-paced and really difficult to manage. He was always super entertaining during class and focused a lot on practice problems and questions, but I think the class itself was his downfall.

He's a good lecturer who genuinely cares about his students and what he teaches. He explains things well and he is a fair grader. The grades for this class are mostly based on essays, but it's important to keep up with the reading and grammar also.

Fernando always brings a motivating and energetic vibe to class and sometimes a few jokes. I have found him very helpful and attentive to my questions in the course and although the content is in Spanish, I can almost always understand what he saying and what is going on. Only con is that he gives us like 30 sec. to 1 min. for 5+ question problems.

429 was a fascinating class! Fernando's enthusiasm for the subject matter makes it that much better. Great lectures and fair exams as well.

While his class is a little more challenging than most spanish classes, he is still respected and liked by his students. Fernando always has a positive aditude and is hilarious. His tests do require studying and deep understanding of the material, but if you have questions he is knowledagble and eager to help.

Grading criteria are not clear, questions are not clear. He is a nice person but I would never take one of his classes again. I really thought I was going to like this class but it ended up being the worst class I've ever taken at UW.

fernando is super energetic and passionate about la fonética lectures are always super interesting and engaging and you really learn the material. his passion for linguistics is contagious, and he takes care to engage everyone in the class. he truly cares that everyone succeeds. as a plus he is also hilarious (and makes silly noises quite often).

Fernando is one of the most energetic people I have ever met. He loves what he does and is more than willing to help you if you have questions. You need to study very hard for quizzes/tests, but he gives you a study guide which is very helpful. Overall, this class was challenging but rewarding if you're willing to put in the work.

Definitely definitely definitely take a class with Fernando if you get a chance! Very enthusiastic professor - made Spanish Phonetics a super interesting class. Always available and helpful in office hours. Go to class and make sure you understand the material for pop quizzes (approx. 5-6) and exams.

By far one of my favorite professors! Has so much energy and makes the material very interesting. Always there to help you if needed. Lectures are entertaining with his little quirks and jokes. Also, is very clear and offered a lot of practice for the material. 10/10 would recommend!!

WOW I absolutely loved Fernando. Lectures are fun and interesting and he has a very good sense of students level of understanding and will spend extra time on a topic if people aren't getting it. If you pay attention in class you'll do just fine.

Fernando is an eccentric person. Every morning he would be energetic and practically bouncing off the walls. Honestly, his ludicrous amount of energy got me more interested in the class. As a professor, he really cares about getting to know his students and wants them to succeed. Very knowledgeable and tests are straightforward. I recommend him!
