Fernando is a decent professor; it can be very tedious in the work, but that's mostly from the course itself. Fernando's teachings are very lecture-heavy, and without a good discussion TA to help and go over the material, it can be a very difficult class.

A lot of ppl will tell you to avoid his class, honestly its not too bad. Most of the shortcomings (long homework, lectures, lack of practice time, heavy workload ect) are a side effect of the course itself rather than Fernando. Hes a chill guy, nothing exemplary to really say but equally I theres nothing overly negative. Lectures can be boring tho

Fernando Al Assal has a very lecture-based teaching style, and spends a lot of time going into depth about how important formulas are derived and why math is the way it is. Overall, he cares a lot about the class and the students taking the case and is always willing to provide one on one time with students.

Fernando seems like a kind and understanding professor. The weekly quizzes were simple if you put in the time to understand the concept. Exams were average in difficulty, overall content of exams was related to lecture content + from the provided exam review. There were a few questions that slightly stretched the boundaries of the class.

Nice but not a good fit for lower-level math. Lectures are confusing, skips key topics, and tests on them. Quizzes are stressful, exams don't match reviews. Only passed because of high school math. Not recommended.

Fernando is a difficult professor to understand because he rambles on about simple topics to the point he confuses most students. Math114 itself isn't too difficult, but Fernando makes weekly quizzes worth 15% of your grade and doesn't cover some topics. Along with the quizzes the exams make up most of your grade, so you have to do good on them all

Fernando was a great professor. Quizzes were worth 15% of your grade, but having one every week helped me keep myself accountable and study (they weren't very difficult). Moreover, test questions were very similar to the worksheets we got during discussion. He's extremely fair. If you're willing to put the work in you'll have success.

Fernando is kind and caring but should not teach a lower-level math course. He cannot explain simple math concepts and literally has never responded to my emails. He was gone for two lectures but still put the topics (that he did not teach) on the final exam.

If I had not taken this course in high school, I would have struggled. Not ideal teaching of content, and extremely hard grading. Quizzes every week, and chances are your TA won't help much. Overall, he's a nice guy, but he overteaches easy concepts, making them more confusing than they have to be. Try to work with a friend during the lecture.

I can't express how disappointed I was with this professor, he struggles explaining basic math concepts; essential for lower-level math. If you get incorrectly graded for things, he will respond late and do everything in his power to not give you credit. If I hadn't taken pre-calc previously, I would've failed this class instead of getting an A.

Fernando is a nice person, but he clearly shouldn't be teaching lower-level math. The lectures were often poorly paced and organized, with Fernando constantly saying "I'll fix that later" and moving on. The exams didn't feel like accurate representation of the reviews, as questions being emphasized in discussion were often underrepresented on exams

Fernando is a really nice professor who tries his best, but unfortunately can't really explain things well. He's really vague about grading policies, and your grade in the course is only dependent on a few things, which means a few bad grades can be really detrimental.

Personally, I really liked Fernando. While his lectures were kind of boring, they were well structured. You only needed a 90 or above for an A. As long as you put in the effort, you can do really well on his exams. I used the previous exams that he posted and the homework reviews that he provided and never got below a 95.

The topics covered in class were nothing out of the ordinary for a pre-calculus course; however topics were not well explained, practice problems were always glazed over, and the professor seemed to have no idea how to explain basic math topics. He seems like a very nice guy, but that doesn't make up for his bad teaching of lower-level math.

A math teacher who frequently mentioned how he wasn't very good at several basic math concepts. Class was incredibly boring, and teacher made no effort to connect with students are keep the class engaged. Homework every week that had nothing to do with the exams. Fairly simple class if you paid attention in high school math.
