Mostly very boring. Lectures were unnecessary to attend in hindsight -- the slides have all the important parts of the readings. She just read over verbatim what the textbook said, and every time we had class, we would have to complete an inquisitive quiz on the chapter assigned for that day.

Professor Enriquez was a great professor. I'm wondering if the other bad reviews are just because 104 sucks to teach and faculty are bored by it. She was extremely knowledgeable in both ethnography and social theory, and made a lot of theory/philosophy stuff very easy to understand. My only critique is that she often didn't show much enthusiasm.

The class itself is easy but lectures are super boring. Discussion takes attendance but there is no point in coming to lectures. All exams are online and answers are available on quizlet.

Anthro 104 will be an easy class with any professor at UW Madison, since the exam solutions are all posted on quillet and you have 2 days to take the exam online. You don't really need to go to lectures, but it helps to actually do the readings and take notes so you're prepared for the mandatory discussions each week.

The most boring lectures I've ever attended, can't read the room. With 12 people left coming to lecture, maybe it's not a good idea to "think-pair-share". She also wouldn't round my 92.95% to a 93% which is super lame of her. Monotonous voice, unengaging presentations. The exams are online, the subject is easy. But she overcomplicates everything

Lectures basically go over the assigned readings and are not mandatory. Discussion is mandatory but is interesting and easy. It is an easy A class.

Super super easy class. Take it for an easy A. If you actually want to learn anthro though, her lectures are really boring and pointless. Homework and exams are so easy.

Completely shocked how this class had nothing to do about anthropology. Made the entirety of the class revolve around sex and trans studies. Questioned a lot of terms used that was extremely inappropriate. Example: she was talking about someone who doesn't identify as transgender but "when asked her gender she replied hard daddy" WTF

Lectures were extremely boring and awkward because no one showed up. Also homework is tedious and not helpful towards learning. This class was an absolute waste of time and I would not recommend it to anyone.

Her lectures are very boring and after the first week, less than half of the people have shown up and it has continued to go down. She is nice but after the first midterm, it was easy to tell that lectures were not too important. There are also a lot of papers and writing that take a while.

3 reading responses, 3 projects, and 3 exams thru the year (last is cumulative). prof enriquez is monotone, hard to hear, and overall reduces the interestingness of the class. quite easy if you have the right ta and show up to discussion (lowest 2 participation grades dropped, along with the weekly quizzes). have a dif prof if u can!

Total of 3 online exams, 3 projects, and 3 reading responses. Grade depends on how easy your TA is. Overall a really pretty easy course. Prof is nice & knowledgeable, lectures are a bit boring if you read the textbook (pretty redundant). Not necessary to attend lec, disc attendance mandatory. Everyone should take this course.

Really nice professor, she is really kind and approachable. She knows what she is talking about and definitely puts a lot of effort into her lecture. However, 10-20 pages reading is a bit hard for me as a non-native speaker but the material is fun and interesting once you finish them. Also, there is no final so I like the course.

This class is insanely easy. Exams are online and projects are pretty straightforward. Prof Enriquez is nice, but the material is dry and the lectures are painfully uninteresting.

Prof Enriquez is really educated about anthropology, and she is obvious about her love for it. She's slightly monotonous, so lectures can be tiring, but they really help to clarify (though it's not awful to miss a few). Quizzes, exams, and journals are super easy, and there's no final. This class would be hard to fail.

Prof herself seemed nice enough. But the way she handled the material made it almost seem like she was belittling what we knew. The class almost seemed to be taught at a middle-school level, which made me not want to go to lectures at all. Take for an easy three credits/ethnic studies.

The class was plenty interesting with the way she taught it, and she did communicate all of the material clearly. However, she speaks in very dry monotone that is difficult to stay awake through. Going to lecture isn't really required though since the quizzes and exams are incredibly easy and the lowest grade of each gets dropped.

Online quizzes/exams & assignments are relatively easy & actually interesting. My discussion section was fairly boring and pointless, but it could have been the TA & lack of student participation. If you take notes (quickly) during lecture & read the textbook, you'll easily get an A. You get a broad overview on unique global topics.

Prof. Enriquez spends more time talking about her fieldwork in Brazil than that actual course content. Her lectures are dull and tend to be fairly empty. Quizzes and Tests are easy and all online, Discussion is Mandatory, and there is no final.

Letters were pretty boring because it's such a broad class, but the case studies were really interesting with intros to diff culture. About 8 assignments, online quizzes (get two chances and lowest is dropped), and 3 online exams (one is dropped) are what you're graded on. Exams could be tricky, so make sure you listen for main concepts in lecture.

This class is basically to get ethnic studies out of the way and nothing else. Lectures boring and rushed. Favela topic in class was seemingly pointless and sometimes she contradicted itself. Discussions were actually interesting, but that's with a different TA. Otherwise an easy class if you study the vocab.

Made a potentially interesting class the most boring thing I've ever had to sit through. The readings are boring. The lectures are more boring than that. Just don't take this class, especially if it has to be with Falina

Terrible lecturers, reads straight off the slides which are copied word for word from the textbook. She is incredibly biased, if you don't agree with her viewpoint then you are wrong. Easy enough class though, but she is a really slow grader.

I would not recommend this class to anyone! Even though it is easy, it is not worth it! She is one of the most arrogant and condescending professors I have ever had. She is very biased and almost makes you feel bad about being white. It is literally the dumbest class ever! Every thing you learn is common sense information. The lectures were boring.

This class was something that I dreaded every time I had to go to class. Her lectures were pointless because she didn't even give you enough time to actually take the notes. And she read off the slides the entire time. They were also so so boring. I would not recommend this class or this professor.

Her lectures are straight from the textbook and she literally reads from her own slides. When I had her, there were countless problems with the class website and we ended up submitting all fieldwork twice. She contradicts herself in lecture and is the type of person that does not like to admit that they are wrong.

Though I didn't see Falina as super opinionated, her lectures were very boring. The class was super easy to get an A in if you do the weekly readings and homework assignments. All of the TAs kind of suck, but the guest lectures are sometimes interesting. Falina's lectures are really boring and she goes through the slides way too quickly.

Absolutely worthless class. Falina might be the most condescending person I've ever meet, as her views of the world are the only correct ideals. Her TA, Rachel treated the class of 700+ as if we are 12 years old. Dry lecture presentation and she reads of slides taken directly from the book. Guest lectures are irrelevant. Midterm of 23 questions.

The class is very straightforward, and not extremely challenging. Enriquez is always available for questions and comments after class, and generally friendly. I found the lectures to be interesting as they were interdisciplinary, and covered many topics. Expect weekly readings and homework assignments. You get out of this class what you put in.

Professor Enriquez is TERRIBLE. We only had lectures twice a week, but it every time felt like getting teethed pulled at the dentist. Lectures were so boring, guest speakers were the highlight of the class. Expects you to know specifics given in lecture slides-- but does not give enough time write notes down. Really disliked her.

One midterm, one final. Bi weekly quizzes. Discussion attendance and participation is mandatory. Weekly writing assignments 1-2 pages. Lectures are very boring. Slides on slides on slides that she doesn't post online because she knows no one would attend if she did. Fulfilled my ethnic studies requirement but I am so glad it is over.

There was only one midterm with 23 questions, so you could only get one wrong for an A. The grading scale is 93-100 to get an A, 88-92 for an AB, and 83-87 for a B, which is higher than all of the classes I've taken here. The tests were fairly easy, except quite a few questions said to pick the best answer, so multiple answers could've been right.

She is horribly boring. The quizzes and midterm are pretty easy but non frequent so they can hurt your grade. She also brought in guest lecturers that had next to nothing to do with content in class. She also talks way too much about her personal research in Brazil. Discussions are "optional" but you actually have to go for participation points.

Had a great TA and discussion was the only interesting thing about this course. Lectures were unbelievably boring, slides were quotes from books, professor was just reading off the slides, and attendance was mandatory since its 10% of the grade. Learned nothing from her, and some of the guest speaks weirded me out.

The midterm was on 23 questions, which is really not representative as if you get a few questions wrong you don't have an A already. The lectures are really boring and she goes through the powerpoint slides way too quickly. The content is very repetitive and very basic. We were required to go to lecture though as it was 10% of our grade.

The class overall is not difficult, it is actually quite easy if you pay attention at least half of the time. 1 midterm and 1 final. The midterm was not curved and only consisted of 23 questions which were quite vague. As a lecturer, she doesn't make the material interesting and isn't open to discussion on topics, her way is the right way.

Anthro 104 as a class is not difficult, I got 100% with ease. But Enriquez made going to class every Tuesday and Thursday difficult. Only got through the burden of going to class because I had a friend and we rewarded ourselves with bagels afterwards.

VERY boring lectures. Reads right off the slides, does not elaborate on details. This course satisfies an ethnic studies credit, but is extremely boring. I got nothing from discussions either. She was very rude to students in lecture when they questioned her or asked for clarification. Would not recommend this class-fairly easy, but unbearable.

Very boring lecturer and tends to speed through her presentations which consist of large amounts of information. The online quizzes are usually easy, but the only midterm consist of about 23 questions total, so going to lecture and study for it is a must. Although attendance is not mandatory for discussion, oral participation is required.

I took Anthro 104 this semester and was thoroughly disappointed. Some of the content was interesting but the lectures were basically straight from the text book and she was boring and dry. Also, she was WAY too political and only thought her beliefs were the only right ones. Some people questioned her and she was SO RUDE back to them.

Horribly dry and boring. It should be interesting content, but she goes out of her way to make it the complete opposite of that. Attendance is not mandatory, but she utilizes the Top Hat program and bases an attendance grade off of that. Alongside that, she doesn't post lecture slides online. Avoid her at all costs. Worst professor I've had yet.

She is a very dry lecturer, seemingly always caught up in personal research when we just want to learn about the subject of anthropology. The level of boredom reached during lectures has never been experienced before.
