You spend more time doing random Excel calculations rather than learning about practical corporate finance. Not a very helpful class at all. Conceptually not very difficult but he makes the exams very challenging so that he can apply a curve. You're basically tested on how well you remember setting up calculations in Excel.
Class was very difficult but he did his best and it turned out well. Conceptually, I learned a LOT about finance theory and how it all works together. Very approachable and incredibly smart. The class is super test heavy and I didn't feel like we had enough material to practice or prepare.
Erwan is a nice guy that cares about his students and is passionate about his teaching. However, you will not learn a thing in this course. There are a few easy homework assignments and 2 tough exams, and that's all you are graded on. I just finished the course and didn't learn anything about finance. I would find a different professor.
One of the best Prof's in the Finance department. Probably the best if you're taking 325 from what I can tell. Highly recommended.
Professor Quintin is a really nice person. He cares about everyone and has a lot of patience on the class and out of class. Although the exam is a little bit hard, but the exam is open to books, computers and phones. You can learn a lot of useful skills on his course. Choose Erwan, you won't regret. He is the best profeesor I have ever met in UWM.
If you have the chance to take any class with Professor Quintin, but especially RE 410, do it. He is by far more challenging than any of the other professors who teach the subject, but if real estate is what you want to do you must take a class with him. I would not have the job I have today if I had not taken this class with him. Recommend 1000%
The class will talk about quite a few hard materials but luckily only the numerical parts will show up in the exam. The exam is quite hard, and the one I took this semester was harder than the practice exam he gave us. But it is good to be challenging! Finally, Professor Erwan is a really smart and super nice person!
Professor Quintin is a great instructor who is passionate about his subject. You can learn a lot through the course. Difficult material at times but should be fun if you're a RE major.
Erwan is extremely helpful and really enjoys teaching this subject. Tests are almost entirely math/finance based and are pretty difficult. One midterm and a final and 7 homeworks using Excel along the way. The homeworks are a lot of work and the tests are hard but other than those items there is not much day to day work.
