Prof Brooks was very organized with her powerpoints. She is very passionate about the course material;. There is almost no homework. Show up to class and prepare for each midterm for a good grade.
Prof Brooks was very organized and passionate about the course material; the material was interesting most of the time. No need to do the "required" reading as everything you need to know is on her powerpoints. This makes for little to no homeowork. Just show up to class and study the listening thoroughly for each exam for an easy A
AKA Folklore 103; The tests and pop quizzes were incredibly easy. I thought that the class was going to focus more on popular music from each genre but most of the genres I have never heard of before. Overall, I enjoyed the class and would recommend it. I was not super passionate about the material but it was still somewhat interesting.
I had her for music 101 in Fall 2014. She is a good teacher. This class was really easy, studied for about 3 hours for each midterm and final and did really well. Also, I am very confused as to why she is not rated on the hotness scale, she is very attractive for a professor.
I did not enjoy this class at all and I believe it was partially because of Brooks. She was a bit demeaning. Although the class was easy, she would take off points for ridiculous reasons which was why I did not receive the A I was hoping to and expecting to receive.
I wish I could take this class again because it was so interesting. I learned a lot about music cultures of the world, and Professor Brooks was really great. Just pay attention, show up to class, and study the listening examples before each test and you're golden.
Professor Brooks was really friendly and seemed to be really interested in the subject. She wasn't the best lecturer I've ever had (she can go kind of fast) but she covers the information you need to know for the tests. The tests are super easy as long as you look over the study guide and review the listening examples.
This is a great class with a great professor. Her lectures were very interesting and she does a great job of keeping students engaged. The exams are a piece of cake if you put in a little bit of time memorizing the songs. She provides a great study guide to go over as well. Definitely take this class with Dr. Brooks if you can
