She was a tough grader, took off points for the oddest reasons. Also took forever to grade assignments. Lectures were attendance mandatory, a lot of in class discussion and group conversations. So many readings...

Professor Turner was a knowledgeable professor, but a tough grader. Class consisted of 5 reading reflections, a midterm project, and a final paper (with a couple other small assignments). She took a very long time to grade some things, but graded pretty fairly. Readings were very dense but I liked this course. She knows her stuff.

Prof. Turner is amazingly knowledgeable and an incredible classroom facilitator. The readings were deeply interesting and provoked a lot of thoughtful discussion about urban schooling. Prof. Turner was very helpful and insightful in general. She also was well-versed in policy writing, so I'd recommend her policy-based class(es) for those interested

Expect a reading club instead of knowledge to take away, independent of authors. That is UW in a nutshell. If you want to practice collecting citations and writing unoriginal research papers, this is the class for you. Education reformersactivists should have thought about going to a different university before getting stuck in research purgatory.

Highly recommend for students intending to work with urban communities, especially in schools; readings focus on charter schools, culturally relevant pedagogy. Discussion-sized class;come prepared to speak frequently and critically about the readings. 30-100+ pages of reading/night; 4 timed, in-class written response quizzes and 1 research paper.

very old and dated readings, wasn't sure if those readings were thoughtfully chosen. didn't really learn as much as I would like to. Tough grader.
