Dr. Shusta clearly knows what he's talking about, it's just that half of the time you won't know what he's talking about. He dives right into the material. I took this course as an undergrad and if I were to do it again I would wait until I was a grad student to take this class. Solid professor, but this class was hard.

The homeworks were very difficult, time consuming, and often felt impossible. However, the homework was much harder than the exams and quizzes. Go to TA's office hours to figure out the homework, study by redoing the homeworks, and you'll nail his class. Not an exuberant guy, but will crack an occasional joke, so savor it while you can.

He goes too fast in lectures without making sure that all students understand what's going on. Homework usually is very hard but quizzes and exams are easy.

He goes way too fast in lecture. Doesn't give students time to process and think about the material he just went over. He clearly understands thermodynamics very well, but forgets that most students don't.
