Eric is extremely caring and does a great job of showing attention to all students and ensuring they understand material in their own way. He is entertaining and motivating as a lecturer. Definitely reccomend.

Carlsson is a great professor. He really likes it when you participate in class. He's a tougher grader than other history professors but he is really caring and accessible. Really sweet guy and interesting class.

Carlsson is my most favorite professor of all time. He cares so much, is incredibly knowledgeable, and is so willing to learn. The readings are difficult, but doable, and the workload is appropriate for the level of the class. Would recommend taking anything with him if you can, or just talking to him.

I took 208 and 209 with him a few years ago, and I still find myself thinking about some of the lectures and reading material even to this day after graduation. If youre searching for answers to tough, abstract questions, these courses are for you. Not because he has answers, but because its one of the few times in life you can explore them.

Carlsson is one of my favorite professors, and he went out of his way to make sure that I got into another class of his when it was already full. His lectures are interesting and he really encourages sharing your thoughts (participation is graded). He is a fair grader on essays and is very willing to work with you outside of class.

Professor Carlsson was one of the best teachers I have had so far at UW. He's very passionate about the topics and made the lectures and discussions very interesting. The exams are easy if you show up to class, keep up with the readings and pay attention.

Super approachable and welcoming! Only issue was that I didn't always understand some of his point deductions (like docking 2% on a "great essay") but overall very good! Really enjoyed this class!

Dr. Carlsson is a nice, approachable professor and I learned a lot in lectures and discussions, though be prepared to write a ton of essays if you take his classes.

Professor Carlsson gives fantastic lectures, is clear on expectations for the assignments, and assigns some really interesting lectures. I definitely would take another one of his classes in the future.

Dr Carlsson is very passionate and sincere. Would recommend taking. He wants to get to know every student and is welcoming during office hours. He picks up on little details and will notice if you are absent or late. Rel 209 assigned a lot of reading. You don't necessarily HAVE to read but it will help you in discussion and in writing your papers.

Really passionate teacher, loves what he does. Really personable, fair tests, just do the readings and listen attentively in lecture.

Overall, good professor. Very knowledgable about what he's teaching and has his lectures organized and topic specific. You will definitely need to read however. Although the information he gives out in class is interesting and perception-changing, the material you will use for essays and responses(stuff thats graded) will come from readings.

Awesome professor! He always came to class in a really happy mood and came with well-prepared lectures. The essays are also very fair as long as you did the readings and attended lectures. Overall it was a really enjoyable class where I learned a lot about the makings of Christianity.

You should most def. take this class! He is an amazing professor that makes you think. The class has 4 papers (if you don't like his essay questions you can make your own) and discussion points so go to every class and participate. I loved this class!

Very good professor! Although I was a first year computer engineer in a higher level history class I thoroughly enjoyed the subject and class. The topics may get difficult but this mans knowledge can real change your way of thinking and perspective on the world. It wasn't the easiest class, but certainly one of my most fulfilling!

You want t to take Eric's class! He is amazing, brilliant, and changed my life. I have never had a better instructor, and everyone should take his class. If you attend class you will do well. He is very personable and makes an effort to learn everyone's name. He is also a silver, swedish fox ;)

Enthusiastic and knowledgeable. He genuinely cares about his students and wants to be actively engaged with them. The subject matter can get dry and very difficult but he is helpful and knows what he is talking about. I highly recommend taking a class with him.
