She's a great lecturer, and she knows the ancient history of philosophy very well. She allowed for abstract tangents that were interesting. I always enjoyed going to her class. I hope to take her again

Boring, avoids class discourse, knows philosophy but only by the book. Didn't go to any of her lectures past the 2nd week we had her; reading the material, some google, and the discussions were enough to do well on the papers. Her slides are less than helpful. The grading criteria on the papers are unclear. Discussion attendance is mandatory.

Prof. Fletcher took over for our old professor 1/3 into the semester. She is very passionate but the class content is super confusing at times. Class is graded by 3 papers which are difficult to write, but there aren't any other grades in the book, so make them count. You're supposed to read for class but can get away with not doing the readings.

Emily is a wonderful instructor, bright personality, and brilliant philosopher. Shes unendingly flexible, gives great feedback on papers, and really knows how to design and run a class. 556 is feminist phil and it was obvious that she METICULOUSLY designed the syllabus and thought of everything. She also brings such great discussions questions.

I think that Emily Fletcher is a really good professor. She is great at teaching and leads good discussions. Although, I do not like the way that my class was structured. Two assignments made up the majority of the grade, and we never even got feedback on the second assignment or a grade so I don't know what I did to get my grade in the class.

Emily is excellent! She is very, very knowledgeable and she is very clear in her lectures. The papers and your scores depend more on the TA, but if you like the material of the class, Emily is great to learn from.

Fletcher was OK. Lectures are boring but the tests were drawn from what she lectured on so pay attention. There's a lot of reading with a discussion once/week. Makes you buy 3 books but you only end up reading 20% of the book. Is not clear on what you will be graded on for papers so definitely go to office hours to get feedback or you'll do poorly

I enjoyed this class, but I dug a hole too deep to climb out of early in the semester. Prof. Fletcher helped me regain footing but I still got a B-. She rambles on in her lectures. Prepare to read.

Emily is the best. Out of 100 kids in lecture she could probably name 95 of them. Lecture can be a bit bland but is manageable. She posts the lecture slides online, so print them out and take notes on them. They'll be helpful for the papers and tests. Overall, a pretty solid choice.

While Prof Fletcher is a pleasant person and is genuinely interested in her field, taking her class was an thoroughly unpleasant experience. Lectures lack structure and clarity. None of the books except the course reader were required to do well in the class. I was not too happy after buying all these books and reading 20-30 pages out of each.

Never gonna take her classes again. She didn't taught us how to write philosophy papers and how to answer exam questions, but her grading is so tough so be ready to get B or BC on your first paper/exam. :(

One of my favorite professors. She is passionate and lectures are organized. Class is pretty easy and relevant to real life. She also gives a study guide for tests that are pretty much exactly what is on the test. No final also which was nice you are pretty much done with the class by the first week in December.

She would give essay topics late, squeezing the time for writing. She loves talking about abstract, not well explored questions of not well known philosophers, instead of focusing on fundamentals. So expect to race through Plato and Aristotle and concentrate on Parmenides/Democritus. Good luck trying to find use of that in other phi classes.

She's helpful during her office hours, especially if you need to review your paper, but I don't think she is a great communicator. She would unload tons of info on you but does not seem to care for what you have to say. She is knowledgeable in the subject matter, although she will shun away from tough questions. She's a good sprit, but needs practic

Friendly, enthusiastic, and easy going. I highly recommend this professor if you are looking to find one that's enthusiastic without being condescending or harsh, as Emily is neither. 5/5 from me.

Emily is an excellent professor (great hire). She conveys her passion for teaching philsophy from day 1 and engages with her students during lecture. Class discussions are always spontaneous and fun. Classes like hers are the ones to take in university--you really develop a sense of reasoning that is only possible through philosophical debates.

Passionate and intelligent professor. Good at leading discussion and answering questions. Happy to talk during office hours. Overall great professor!
