I have taken Professor Callacis 201 and 600 course and she is absolutely one of my favorite Professors. She cares about her students, and really wants you to learn, putting an emphasis on that more so then grades. She is so well versed in the subjects she teaches. Would recommend her to any student who is looking for an amazing professor!
She is very caring about her work, and it really shows in her lectures. She is always avalable outside of class, and is willing to and gives great feedback. Would definitely recommend her African-Decolonization class for any history majors looking for a Historians Craft 201 credit.
Clearly passionate about African history. Lots of writing and reading. Lectures brief but helpful.
Professor was nice and passionate on the subject. Lecture was almost two hours long. Weekly readings/discussion posts and the exams are all projects, which was nice because it left a lot of room for creativity. Requires a lot of time out of class. If you don't like project based/discussion based classes that involve lots of talking, don't take it.
I loved Prof Callaci. The classroom environment was a calm environment and I was never made to feel nervous or embarrassed when asking a question, extension, or extra help. This course allows for lots of one on one help and a tightknit group with the other students. It is VERY project heavy however, and is almost all discussions.
I took Professor Callaci's class for my women's reproductive politics FIG. She provided amazing readings that truly taught me a great base of knowledge. You definitely have to work for your grade but you will want to if you are passionate about the topic. She leaves room for creativity as well. Would take again
I had Emily for my Reproductive Politics FIG (HIS200) and I loved her as a professor! She is very understanding and cares about her students. She is supportive with class material, engaged with discussion sections, and thoughtful with essay feedback! I would love to take another class with her!
Readings every week and discuss on Monday for a 2 hour seminar. Class is pretty easy as long as you show up and read
Really awesome class. Fairly Easy A with an intelligent professor and fantastic TA. I came in knowing nothing about Africa and leave with a tremendous amount of knowledge. Emily's lectures are really fast paced and you can't skip class but honestly I wouldn't skip because she is fantastic. 2 papers, key term/map quiz, and final group project. 10/10
Professor Callaci is so nice! I really enjoyed her class. She's incredibly smart, I never had a lot of homework, and I learned a lot.
She is a passionate professor. She often talks fast. Lots of reading. Grade is based off of TA. Only 4 papers, 1 midterm blue book exam, and a final essay.
Professor Callaci is awesome! You can really tell how much she knows and loves the material. At times she can talk really fast and fly through the material, and with no powerpoints, attendance is mandatory. However, you'll definitely want to come to class because it's just such interesting material. Definitely take this class!
Prof. Callaci is very engaging in her lectures and gets very excited teaching. At times she can fly through topics, but overall she is an awesome prof! Tests and papers are graded very fairly. Good class to get humanities credits.
I love Emily! I took the class on a whim, and I couldn't have made a better choice! Attendance is very important as she doesn't use Power Point, but gives students outlines and other handouts in class. I practically wrote down every word she said just because I wanted too. There was a bit of reading, but I managed to get an AB by skimming.
Prof. Callaci was very engaging. Even though there is a lot of material covered in lectures, I retained most of it because it was fascinating.
Class was very interesting considering I knew nothing about African history before taking it. There were large reading assignments but nothing too challenging. 4 Papers, each of varying length (between 1-3 pages), Map Quiz, 1 exam and a final. Great class, I highly recommend taking it.
Great class, alot of reading but the discussions we have get crazy some times and make it fun. I learned alot about Rick Ross and his connections with Lagos Nigeria. You have 3 papers, 3 pages each and one final paper that's 3 pages. Weekly discussion post and a map quiz on Africa and that's all. Easy fun class. Don't skip class though.
