Eduardo does an excellent job distilling the ideas of matrices and their applications in ways that are easy to understand for folks like me whose background in linear algebra is shaky. Exams were split into units and were not cumulative; workload was quite reasonable. Definitely recommend before taking CS760.
This class is really amazing and so well designed. It's my first flipped classroom but i thought it actually helped me learn better. He's always open to help students, very knowledgable, and explains things well. He makes an effort to learn student's names and get to know them which is rare! One of the best cs classes and professors that I've had.
Prof Eduardo embodies what a world class faculty is. If you've watched Harvard's CS50 lectures, the gold standard of teaching, Prof E's lessons and energy is on par. I'm an exchange student from a global T20 and Prof E's teaching is better than anything I have taken. The online lectures however isn't as great, was done by another prof years back.
Eduardo is a kind and fun person. The flipped format of 532 wasn't ideal but Eduardo made the most out of it. The exams were fair and slightly curved for the last ones. All in all great professor, but 532 should really be cross-listed to the math department because it was all linear algebra. I'm glad I took math 340 before.
532 is hard, but Eduardo makes it as manageable as possible. Reverse format, and non mandatory attendance, plus activities are graded on participation. Homeworks are long and hard but are graded generously. Tests are not too difficult, you'll do well if you know your stuff decently. Very clear grading criteria for everything.
He is somewhat useless. The lecture videos are created by someone else and are very boring. In class you do activities that are designed to take the class length, but they are often very complicated and take longer than the class. Yet they are due at the end of class and thus you lose points. This class is all theory so you won't learn applications
Eduardo the goat
I had ece 203, ece 330, and ece 334. He is a legend. He is in my top 3 prof that I have ever had. Super good teacher, his exams are reasonable, and he is also just a very likable and down to earth guy. I know many people who took a class with him just for the experience and to be in his presence. I would kill for him.
Awesome
One of the best professors I've ever had
Prof Arvelo is really helpful and very accesible. He would often overstay his set Office Hour hours before exams and during difficult content weeks during the semester. Must take if he's teaching a class you're planning to take.
Most of the learning in ECE 203 comes from the exercises and the labs (which you need to attend). Professor Arvelo is amazing because he answers Piazza (online forum) posts very frequently and provides detailed explanations. Can't say anything about him as a lecturer, but he's a really great guy who cares and is very accessible outside of class.
Prof. Arvelo is an amazing professor. He is very friendly and dedicated to his craft and answers questions till you get the concept entirely. Very responsive to emails/messages. Highly recommend him for ECE 203.
