I absolutely adore Prof. Malitsky! She explained concepts clearly, taught what was required on the quizzes and tests, and was available for additional questions or clarifications. I wish she also taught calculus because I have never understood math so thoroughly. Overall, I very highly recommend her!

The lectures were just really slow and quite boring to follow. You can self study the material way faster than learning it in class. If it weren't for the quizzes every single day lecture would've not been very needed to go to. The practice tests and review packets are amazing they literally give you exactly what will be on the test.

I loved Ms. Malitsky. The lectures were very straight forward and very similar to the exams and quizzes. The practice exams and quizzes are the exact same as the real ones, they just change the numbers. She is very supportive and easy to access for questions.

Although lectures were often boring (and were mandatory thru quizzes each class), Malitsky explains concepts in a simple way, checks if anyone has questions several times throughout each class, and was friendly + helpful in office hours. There were no surprises on the exams and you'd be well prepared just by doing the HW and going to most classes.

Her lectures are very straight forward and she goes through how to do quizzes before you take them later in the class. The lectures may get boring but most of the questions she goes over are really similar to exams and quizzes. Grading is also done within a fairly quick and reasonable timeframe.

She was a good professor overall, but the lectures could be boring at times. I don't think I ever saw her smile :( My class was very quiet and she seemed to always look for responses. However, grading was almost always very timely.

Her teaching style is quite dull & unengaging making it difficult to follow along. She lectures straight from the textbook and can't explain any concept or question that doesn't have an explicit definition within the textbook. She has responded to students expressing confusion with, "I don't know, it makes sense to me," on more than one occasion.

Her lectures are very traditional- you mostly watch her work through problems on a projector. The practice quizzes and exams are pretty much EXACTLY what you see on the real ones with different numbers. Before each quiz she goes over exactly how to solve what is on it.

Although the lecture are very problem heavy, she runs through them and then has you practice while her TA's and her walk around. She communicates through email about when quizzes + exams are along with her office hours/help resources. Attendance mandatory bc of weekly quizzes (3 get dropped). Exam prep is identical to the actual exam.

Professor Malitsky was fine, she had an accent that was a little hard to understand and was hard of hearing. She provided her students with all the resources we needed, so at least she was helpful in that aspect. Lectures were a little boring but easy if you already took trig. Overall fine, probably a little hard if you haven't taken trig already.

I had to write a second review because the negative reviews just don't understand what a good professor is. The people who are doing poorly in the class are simply on their phones the whole time. Shrug. I have never been a good math student, but the way she teaches is the only reason why I feel confident in a math class. Fantastic professor!

I am in the middle of the semester but I absolutely adore Professor Malitsky. I love the traditional teaching. As an older student, this is what you want in a professor. A professor who is extremely organized, routinely, and straight to the point. I love her and wish I can take her with me to my future math classes. Incredible teacher.

Lectures are extremely boring and there isn't a lot of explanation to a lot of things. Might take a sec to get used to her accent. Must show up every class because there is a quiz at the end of almost every class and you can't retake if you miss. Easy if you took trig in high school. Tests are exactly like the practice exams but different numbers.

Didn't explain the reason why she was doing things within a problem, just did them with no explanation.

Worst teacher ever.Very rude when you ask her questions.Would tell her we couldn't read the screen because it wasn't zoomed in enough and blurry, and she wouldn't care. All practice exam keys are incorrect and unorganized or not legible. She is not approachable and doesn't mark what is incorrect on exams or tests. She teaches complicated methods too.

Good luck learning the material! Dr. Jay would upload the lecture videos AFTER the homework module was due. Didn't learn anything from this class. Professor is decent but hard to understand at times. Some weeks they just wouldn't upload lecture videos and expected me to learn.

Teaches trig in a complicated way. will be taught in class one way and be solved on a review another way. She did not know any information on exams or about reviews. I think the communication within the trig department is poor. For the 2nd exam, they posted the wrong review and never corrected themselves with the students! Good luck getting though.

Lectures are a little dry but she's pretty good at explaining. I am not sure what grades are looking like with the curve, but based on midterms, the curve is not that big. For example the average for a midterm was a 52% and there was barely a curve. The class could be designed better.

She was a boring professor. Watched her write on a piece of paper for 75 mins. Even though the class average on exams was 58%, the class was barley curved. Extremely boring and taught straight from the textbook.

I really enjoyed having Prof. Mallitsky. Her teaching style is very cut and dry, and it's easy to estimate what kinds of problems will appear on the exams. She teaches straight from the textbook, so if you're able to do the problems from each section, you'll be fine.

Has a slight accent that can make it hard to understand what she says but overall she does a good job going through practice problems and making sure every topic is covered

She has a little bit of an accent that takes a few weeks to get used to, but you can still understand her. The class grade is based almost entirely off of 3 exams you take, so make sure to study for those. Not a terribly difficult class but you need to study to do well.

She will make your life abysmal. The homework does not mimic the test. In addition, her sloppy chalk-board teaching paired with her thick Russian accent makes it impossible to learn. Very frustrating class because if you don't previously know it, she makes you NEED tutoring. She never responds to emails and doesn't care about students overall.

Her lectures are boring and she just reads from the textbook and does practice problems. She doesn't really explain things well. She also has an accent so it is hard to understand sometimes. Class is graded on three midterms and the final (lowest midterm is dropped). Homework is optional. She isn't that good.

Graded by few tests and requires preparation. Not easy, but not hard. Nice teacher if you throw questions.

Homework is mandatory, but it's not graded. There are 4 exams with only 10 questions and you can drop the lowest grade. There is a curve, but you don't find out about it until the 2nd exam. She recommends studying via lectures, homework problems, and book questions, but the study materials are not reflective of the exam. Not a great class...

Prof Malitsky was a great prof! Very straight-forward, methodical teaching method and was very kind and understanding. The class is only graded on 3 exams though so make sure you study for those--they're literally identical (diff numbers tho) to past year's exams so I suggest just looking at those. Never did the hw got an A

This class was so hard for me and I have no idea how I got a B (CURVE)... putting her teaching into perspective I am in Math 221 right now and I don't find it difficult and I have an A. lectures are long, boring, and all over the place you really never know whats going on and she doesn't post the test answer keys so its hard to know. DONT TAKE!

If you already have background knowledge on Trig, it might not be that difficult but if you struggle with math, this instructor will only make you struggle more. she spends time going over homework problems that aren't reflective of the exams and are not graded. She does not explain how she would like the problems solved for the exam. Very difficul

This class was very straightforward and simple. If you do the homework (not graded) and show up to lecture, you will do fine. You are only graded on 2 midterms and the final. Professor is passive aggressive if you ask a "dumb question" or if you don't understand a concept. Lectures were very boring and dry. Same class as highschool Algebra & Trig.

Professor Malitsky, is an amazing teacher. She makes the concepts taught in her math class easy to understand and comprehend. She is always willing to meet with students even outside her usual office hours. In addition, she allows students to ask clarifying questions during class about the material. Class is very easy and tests are pretty easy.

Her teaching style of reading right from the textbook is unusual but extremely effective! She is super clear with her explanations and comes up with very unique and helpful ways to understand difficult concepts. Honestly, one of the best math teachers/professors I've ever had. Tests are easy if you attend lecture and one of them gets dropped

Overall she knows her stuff. Her examples are very clear and she goes over everything step by step. Beware of her accent, as the first couple weeks hearing it is hard to understand what she says. Also, she goes over exams and is very helpful. Homework is online and very easy. Ill be fully honest, I skipped almost every lecture and still passed.

Eugeina wrote everything on the board and taught how to approach problems. This style of lecture was great for this class as she spoke her thought process rather than asking the class for answers all the time. The textbook gave useful practice problems and how to complete them, which was helpful for the tests. Beware accent.. Great professor!

Professor Malitsky is an excellent teacher for trigonometry. The way she teaches is easy to follow and is and I am able to follow up with the lecture easily in the textbook. She does not take short cuts in demonstrating problems, which I like, because the little math errors are easy to miss with shortcuts.

A very empathetic instructor, she pays attention to questions and feedback. She wants you to succeed. Do your best and you'll be fine.

This professor was amazing at explaining how to derive the equations she was teaching us. She not only explained why we needed to learn the material but applied it to real life. If you've ever had officer hours with her, you'll find she truly wants you to learn the material and will help you in any way she can.

Mrs. Malitsky does not explain anything in class, just teaches out of the textbook word for word. The exams are ridiculously hard and the examples in the class lecture and homework do not help you prepare for them. Unless you're a math genius and know what you're doing I wouldn't recommend taking this class.

Professor Malitsky was helpful with homework classes during lectures, but her lectures were verbatim from the textbook. So when I attended lectures, I did not need to read from the textbook. I did the minimum work for the class and scored the highest score on the final. The material isn't hard, but the teacher is a little boring. But, she is nice.

Professor Malitsky's lectures are read straight out of the textbook but she doesn't cover everything in the required textbook so, if you go to class, you don't need to read the textbook. I would suggest going to class because she does help with the online homework assignments. Not a bad professor, but her Polish accent takes a while to get used to.

Professor Malitsky is not a very effective teacher. There is no discussion section for this class and all her lectures are problems straight out of the book. She is also not friendly at all. All of the exams that go along with this class are a lot harder than any examples she does in lecture and are very hard to be well prepared for.

Incredible teacher, has a great sense of humor, and a true sense to ensure her students are learning material. Curves and other grades are very fair, but you have to work for your grade.

Long boring lectures and exams that don't accurately represent what was taught in the homework, as well as in lecture. However, the exams are heavily curved.

this class is unnecessarily hard because I knew that some of the ways we were taught could be much easier just by explain a different way to solve it. I felt like she chose the hardest, most challenging way to solve every single problem and that was the way we had to learn how to solve it. This class could have been much easier.

Teacher does not realize when students do not understand and just ends up moving on to another problem or example I feel like there is no such thing as time to sit, rest, and think about what we just learned-there is no break time it is just go, go, go and if you aren't listening intently for even 5 seconds you will miss a great deal of information

Lectures are not interesting, and she goes through the textbook word for word and does all of the textbook example problems. She takes homework questions and works out all of the problems you ask her to. The exams are much more difficult than the content she actually teaches.

She's at times difficult to understand with her accent, but after a while you get used to it and her accent's not too big of a problem. All she does is read the book word for word. She rushes through the problems as if we should understand them already. She does help with homework once a week, which is helpful.

I did not like this class! WAY too hard for a basic math class. Lectures were SO boring and confusing, she just did problems the whole time which didn't help me. Definitely the worst class and probably worst professor I've had at UW so far. Seems like a nice lady, but tests were SO HARD, and were nothing like her practice tests.

I was left sitting in lectures looking around and wondering if I was on a different planet.....a pointless waste of time. Tests were completely different than homework, quizzes, and pass exams. I feel I did not lean anything and it therefore set me up for failure in math for the rest of my life.

Super boring, super dull. You really don't need to go to class except when there's an exam. Everything else is literally straight from the book; she's pretty much reading it aloud to us word for word.

To do well on exams you have to know the concepts well. She does a good job of explaining in lecture and provides good examples. She's a very straightforward professor and the exams are fair.

Nearly everything she does in class appears to be taken right from the textbook. She teaches by simply doing example after example and doesn't really explain the concept by talking but rather does lots of examples in order for you to understand which wasn't bad. If you study the tests and quizzes can be quite easy.

I struggled at first with Math 114 but quickly learned what she wanted. Do the homework twice (once a few days before the quiz and the night before, trust me it's worth it). The midterm & final questions are kind of odd. You get to use a sheet of notes on the midterms& finals. Overall, not a bad professor but not a great one.

Not even worth it to go to lecture. She simply does the exercises and problems from the book and does extensive, pointless proofs. I found it easier to just read the textbook and teach myself. Pray for a good TA.

Malitsky's lectures end up confusing you more then the help you. She will prove all of the equations, when you are never asked to do this. The math homework will be nothing like the quizzes, and the tests will be unrelated to the entire class. The average for all of the tests in the morning lecture was a 56%. She does a horrible job.

Nice lady, but not a very helpful professor. If you do you homework, the quizzes are easy. But, tests are really unpredictable and hard. If you go to office hours, she does not really help because she only solves homework problems for you.

Well first off, this professor resembles an adorable sea otter and has an accent equivalent to Gru from Despicable me. If you do the homework, the tests are easy and graded fairly. The quizzes were kind of hard and not really on the things we learned in class. If you put in the effort, you will get an A

I would not recommend this professor to anyone who didn't have a previous pre-calculus class. She makes the easiest topics difficult to understand. The lectures don't always match the weekly quizzes. The quizzes don't match sample tests. The sample tests don't match the exams. You cannot simply be prepared for anything. Also hard to understand

Professor Malitsky is very boring during lectures and takes a long time to explain simple concepts. She gives weekly, 2 question quizzes that usually contain the easier concepts of the week. Her exams are fair and you get a note sheet, but there usually isn't very much of a curve. Definitely do the homework every week and you'll do fine.

Lectures are pointless. She takes too long to explain simple concepts and makes easy things confusing. Lectures don't match the homework, homework doesn't match the quizzes. The study guide for the midterms does not help in the slightest and the test questions are alot harder than anything covered in the practice problems. Good teacher, poor class

Lectures are boring and are filled with unnecessary "examples". Accent can be hard to understand. Quizzes and midterms tend to not cover information on the homework so that can throw you for a loop. The class is curved though which helps.

Nice professor. Very straightforward. Exams are fair. Sometimes she throws in material she didn't cover for the quizzes. Do the homework and go to your TA's office hours.

A simple explanation for a problem turns into four chalk boards of a theorem that could have been solved using three lines. Lectures seem like a waste of time when the T.A.'s do a better job of teaching then she does. Quizzes are easy if you do the homework, but her exams are radically different from those problems. Unpredictable. good luck.

Super easy class that you can still learn from. I dropped out of Math 117 to take this class and I am thrilled that I did. Not super interesting, but then it is a math class. If you put a fair amount of work into this class you will likely get an A, so if you aren't great at math I recommend taking it.

She was a good professor, a little difficult to understand at times. The exams were very easy and I didn't study very much. Do the homework and you will get an A.

Very straightforward. Go to class, do the homework, and you are guaranteed a B. A's are a little harder to get. Overall, great professor. Some curve balls on the tests, but the actual curve always makes up for it. Take her if you can.

Very straightforward. Her tests have some obscure problems, but you can generally figure them out. You will definitely get at least a B in the class if you do all the homework and go to class even half the time. Also very helpful.

Very clear professor. Explains concepts clearly and provides simple proofs. While going to lecture isn't mandatory, it is highly recommended and you will do better on the exams if you go. My advice is just go to lecture and discussion, do all the homework and review your notes and you will definitely get at least an AB in this class

Explains concepts clearly. Provides good examples. Exams are straightforward.

She was a very helpful professor. I took this class in the summer after failing it the semester before. Received a B, a full sheet of notes was allowed on all exams.

Honestly I was quite worried walking into this class. Not only was I not confident at math, but I was taking it during the summer which means that the material is covered quicker. However, Prof Malitsky covered all the material in a very straightforward, easy to interpret manner.
