This professor teaches all his classes remotely, even classes that are listed as in-person. All lectures are prerecorded and often from other random sources, usually of poor quality and outdated. Very little direction, poor communication and very inconsistent and harsh grading with little to no feedback. Would not recommend any class taught by him.

Do not take this class. Aside from everything that everyone else has said, the class also just sucks. You will learn a minimal amount of important information in this class. Things that are taught/tested are either rudimentary or beyond obscure. Project rubrics are also unclear because he does not know how to hierarchically structure instructions.

All the lectures are recorded and can be extremely lenghty as well as incredibly low quality, and a lot of them are from random other professors. Discussion and paper reports have unecessarily long prompts, and grading rubrics are very inconsistent. Quizzes have questions about a lot of random facts that you probably don't have in your notes.

The class itself is super easy, but man I wish I knew Doug lives in California so the entire class is basically online where you meet with your TA once a week. The lectures are incredibly dry, boring, and long so I never watched any of them (but still got a good grade). Would be way better if he was an in person professor.

Full of busy work. Supposed to be an in-person lecture, but the prof is remote and doesn't even live in Wisconsin. Take this class online. If you take the "in-person" version, you'll just be taking an online class but still have to go to a classroom. Dates from his material are wrong because he reuses it every semester and can't be bothered.

Biggest warning: professor teaches from California the entire semester and so we only ever met in person for discussion with the TA. I wish I knew this before I signed up because I really dislike online learning and always seem to do somehow worse, the class is fun tho. If you don't have a problem with online school then you'll be fine.

LA250 was not a terrible class, but this guy is an extremely dry lecturer. All of his lectures are uncut and sometimes he lets out an ear piercing cough or clears his throat into the mic. This class is full of unrealistic expectations and unclear expectations but was not the worst thing in the world (definitely one for the back burner, though).

He is a very good professor, sometimes slow on grating things, but the course overall is fun and creative. He have been teaching for 15 years in Madison, knows well what he is doing.

Doug was a good guy, but I did not like the class. For this class and 201, he would take points off for random things in his opinion. I would have a great project and he would make something up in his opinion to take unnecessary points off. Also, tons of unnecessary busy work. Do not take unless you are a for sure landscape architect major.

Awesome professor, cares a lot about helping the students learn the material and less about unnecessary details. relates very well to the students

Great professor, but the class material itself is a lot to handle and not the most interesting.

I took this class because it was online and Humanities. There is an incredible amount of busy work. I put more time into this class than any other this semester by far. There are lectures, readings, journals, discussions, projects, and quizzes just about every week. Although there aren't exams, it requires way too much time on useless assignments.
