Even though this is a challenging class, I would still highly recommend taking it for anyone interested in Business Law. The grade distribution on madgrades is understandably intimidating, but law is a hard field, so it's not like any other law class is gonna be easy. Prof Pelletier is super organized, understanding, and good at explaining things.

I disagree with the rating below. I don't know what class they were taking, but David's Canvas page is the BEST and most well-organized class website I've had during my time at UW. Every time I feel confused about a topic in one of his lectures, it is always cleared up- his explanations are so simplistic and helpful. Reading the text isnt critical.

This class is online, but has in person discussions and exam review sessions that are helpful. Terrible online format for a class. I had severe issues with honor lock for an exam and reached out to the professor, and he ignored me. Exams are mostly essay format with huge ramblings for questions and are graded harshly.

Lectures are all online in the form of pre-recorded videos (1-3 hours/week). Optional in person discussions once a week. 4 Open book quizzes. The primary grade differentiators will be the 3 exams. The exam questions are not trying to trick you but due to the sheer amount of content, you will need to know your stuff going in. Be prepared to read.

There were a lot of lectures, but since they were online it was easier to get through the content on your own. Even with his busy schedule, Professor Pelletier was always willing to set up a time outside of office hours if you had any questions. Review sessions before exams were super helpful! Prof and TAs were very knowledgable.

Class seems like it's taught for law students rather than business students. Online lectures take forever and are pretty boring. Tests weren't too hard, though the questions are always written to trick a student or test them on a very specific detail within the topics. The class is not great, though not the worst either.

This class answers the question, "Can a class also be an ad?". David and the TAs are practicing attorneys and put their firm's logo on every slide. They provides a lot of study material, but it often contradicts itself. Disorganized class, but not too difficult with practice. Don't bother reading the textbook. Recorded lectures take a lot of time.

Good professor and class. No where near as hard as people make it out to be. Take Walsh for discussion he's amazing. Write down everything he says in discussion. Watch online lectures on 2x. For tests, review the outlines, attend the review session, do all the practice problems, and look at rubrics for past free response. Tests are very similar

I really enjoyed business law w/ Prof. Pelletier! He's great at explaining legal concepts and their implications. It didn't feel like he was tryna trick us. His tests & quizzes are pretty reasonable, too. I got thru the class by transcribing the videos he posted. I also suggest making flashcards, and treating things you learn as new vocab words.
