He is amazingly passionate about this subject and he is funny too. There is a lot of reading. His Welsh accent is sometimes a bit difficult to understand and he tends to trail off into stories that are somewhat related but not relevant and it can get confusing. He is a great professor though and a very esteemed and published scholar. Worth it!

He has a Welsh accent that is nice to listen to, but he's not very clear and tends to mumble at times. Nevertheless very humorous and helpful. Cancel the final quiz/exam after Thanksgiving as he 'feels generous after the season'. Great prof.

Interesting and funny. His first hand knowledge of Iran and Afghanistan gives students an inside look at the countries involved. His constructive criticism of grad student papers is helpful for future encounters with collegues in the "real world"

Excellent teacher. Knows the material, covers it well, and takes a very straightforward approach to judging your knowledge. No exams (small discussion & lecture quizzes) with some papers throughout the semester. However, reading the material is pretty much a must. Would love to take more of his classes.

despite the thick welsch accent, "on the whole" his teaching is clear and easily understandable. he is an interesting person,very understanding, and very forgiving. his practical approach to education makes the class very enjoyable. highly recommended. i will definately look to take more of his classes.

Although his English accent was a bit difficult to understand and the attendance sheet was ridiculous, the topic of the class (the crusades) and his approach (from the Muslim perspective as opposed to the Christian perspective) were interesting and fresh. I loved it and because of that, I got an A.
