No lecture slides or even outlines. Just opens the book and starts to talk. He's not exciting, but if you want to take a class with a draconian attendance policy with a professor who incessantly utters 'as it were' and makes very unclear tangents, take something with Loewenstein.Rate My Professors ↗

Perhaps not the most exciting lecturer, but he really has a passion for his craft. Take notes on: key terms, characters, and places. The TA's grading on papers are difficult, so attend office hours and get them peer edited for better results.Rate My Professors ↗
Horrible class. Although prof knows the subject, he just rambles with no clear outline or lesson plan. Exams were really easy. Dis was hard; TA graded papers way too tough for a 100 level class. DO NOT TAKE JACOB T. AS A TA!! With a decent TA would be an ok class.Rate My Professors ↗

One of the most engaging, passionate, and most knowledgable professors I've had at UW. Knows everything about English literature, especially the icons of 17th c. lit. Getting an A isn't too hard if you put a slight amount of effort into the papers. Can't understate this man's passion for the course material.Rate My Professors ↗
