I took Archaic Weapons this semester, and absolutely loved it. He really knows what he's talking about and is one of the most interesting people I've ever met. He wasn't too hard of a grader for practicals, but you really do need to listen to what he says during lecture. Fabulous class!Rate My Professors ↗
Foil fencing with David is great! If you show up to Durendal (his T/Th evening community fencing club), he'll love you. The first few weeks of drills are tiring and repetitive, but it ends up being worth it once you start dueling. Grades for the practicals are technically based on skill, but he seems to take effort into account too.Rate My Professors ↗
Prof. Glaeser is an awesome teacher. Nobody has reviewed him for archaic weaponry, but the class was a great blend of learning history of swordsmanship and practicing with actual weapons. Easy to understand and the couple of tests and research paper are not difficult.Rate My Professors ↗
Took Fencing for fun. Tests were very difficult. Matching and multiple choice BUT a full page of matching with no dividers & no photos of things learned only by practice, not text. Also tested info given same day. Otherwise, hilarious and nice to those who go an extra mile...offered free A on final for those who went to practice T/R Eves 6+ times.Rate My Professors ↗
I took fencing for the hell of it - 1 credit class, should be easy. Well it is easy...provided you actually show up to lecture. After about two weeks of walking to the Nat, I decided that I could use some extra sleep instead of fencing practice. I did great on the practical examinations (75% of your grade) but failed both written and ended with BCRate My Professors ↗
I didn't like him at first, but he's extremely knowledgeable and competent and you definitely know how to fence by the end of the class. If you try in class it's hard not to get at least an AB. I'm taking my third fencing class with him, that should tell you something. He also has some pretty good stories if you can get him to tell them. Cool guy.Rate My Professors ↗
