ESA 301 Islam in China is a very new topic. Even if you are familiar with China, you may find the perspective of this class shocks you. It shows you the part of China that you don't usually see or hear about. It is a challenging course because the concepts are complicated. It takes commitment to get the hang of the content.

Nice guy but this class is a snooze fest. The lectures are incongruous with the assigned readings. It was very frustrating as the class merely focused on the Uyghurs of the Xinjiang region as opposed to Muslim populations within China as a whole. This was, after all, the course title: "Islam in China." Definitely look elsewhere for credits.
