Danny was light hearted and truly cared about his students. He was easy to reach outside of lecture, and encouraged questions during lecture. Although the class is generally hard, he was the type of professor to be there for you every step of the way. His lectures went over a lot of practice problems, which were helpful for studying for the exams.
Danny is a great professor and a great man. His lectures were very engaging and he tried his best to explain complicated subjects when students had doubts. It is indeed true that his exams were harder (just slightly), but it also resulted in them having nicer curves. He really cares about his students and would definitely recommend.
His exams are so much harder than the other professors, and with a midterm 2 weeks before the final, we got our grades back a week later since the average was so low and they had to regrade everyones. He doesn't teach during lecture most of the time, just goes through examples from exams from years ago.
Not clear on graded criteria. He gave us last minute graded assignments and out of five, I only had one returned back to me. What happened to the other assignments I turned in? Who knows. I never got them back nor never knew what grades I got. All I know is that I got a D for the semester, despite attending class, doing my hw & participating.
Professor Fredrickson is a great lecturer and entertaining. He is also more than willing to answer questions during lecture and outside of class. All of the lectures are clear and line up closely with the textbook. Though the exams are difficult, they're fair.
He's really fast when explaining stuff in lecture. His notes are not very clear either.
I enjoyed Professor Fredrickson's personality, he is a very funny guy. However, I sometimes found his lectures to be a little scattered and his handwriting was kind of hard to read on the board and in the notes he posts online. Lectures are mostly example problems (I used the textbook a lot). Homework is graded for accuracy.
If I could, I would take 4 years of Danny's chem. Though Chem 109 is not easy, he makes it easier for us to understand since his clear and logical way of teaching. He is so passionate about science and willing to help every student! As an International student, I do not have any difficulty understand everything he says since he has no accent.
Danny is a REALLY good professor. He teaches clearly and logically, and he posts class notes on Canvas. The class is tough since its Chem 109, but having Danny as professor makes it so much better!
Very fun lecturer, makes class entertaining. Tests are difficult but are balanced out with lab and homework grades. Made my first chemistry experience enjoyable, but definitely wouldn't recommend missing lectures.
Solid teacher, the course is very doable if you took AP Chem in high school. Many of the concepts are the same. I would not recommend skipping any classes just so you can have a nice review of the material. If you do end up missing a lecture, he posts the lecture notes on the class website shortly after the lecture.
