An amazing lecturer, you can really tell she cares about the topics she is teaching. Lectures can get pretty long, but other than that it was chill. Exams arent too hard, neither are the essays. If you get a chance to take a class by her, i would highly recommend to do so.
She is a very inspirational and amazing professor. She knows what she is talking about and manages to teach thoughtfully and intentionally. Her rubrics and syllabus convey what she wants so you just need to follow it and it's an easy class.
Best lecturer I have had.
I would highly recommend this course. Professor Clark-Pujara is very passionate about the information she is teaching and it is apparent through her lecture style. The tests and papers are easily done if you attend lecture. I would recommend this class a thousand times over.
Professor Clark-Pujara is to this day the greatest professor I've ever had. She is brilliant and passionate and truly cares about her students and the subject she's teaching. So much of this information is new but so integral to Us history. She offers easy and educational extra credit and assignments/lectures are clear. Take this class if you can.
Great professor, if you go to lecture tests are very easy
Professor Clark-Pujara is the best professor you'll ever have. She is brilliant, kind, and incredibly passionate. She cares deeply about all of the content in this class and completely altered my perspective. Exams were VERY fair, as were papers. Discussions are boring but required, and I'd recommend reading the textbook and others to get a high A.
I absolutely loved Professor Clark-Pujara. She is extremely knowledgeable and sets up the class for you to learn the material and succeed. It is clear she is passionate about what she discusses and the tests are not difficult at all. I would easily take another one of her classes just to have her as my professor again.
I really enjoyed how knowledgeable Professor Clark-Pujara was and she always gave us extra credit. She does assign a lot of readings. The exams were all take home, open notes.
Dr. Clark-Pujara was the best teacher/professor that I have ever had. Tests and quizzes are based only on lectures. The textbook is not needed. The only text that you need to read are the primary sources. Every second of the class is interesting, Dr. Clark-Pujara is engaged and passionate about what she teaches. Lot's of extra credit options.
I loved taking her class because she is incredibly passionate and dedicated to being the best at what she does. She is a phenomenal lecturer, and I learned so much even after taking APUSH in high school. Easy exams and easy papers. Discussion is useless, but it's mandatory for participation.
Christy Clark-Pujara had the best lectures ever, I stayed so engaged. I hate reading and writing and you're suppose to do readings in her class but I didn't do them and I was able to pass with an A. Im not the BEST writer, but if you're half way decent at writing it won't be that hard. Tests are open note and you can take them at home.
Exams were fair and grading was reasonable. Though I felt like there were too many assigned readings than needed to get an A in this course and decided to rely on material from lectures instead which worked out well.
Professor Clark-Pujara is VERY informative and helps you understand the importance of what you're learning. This class made me feel like I was learning while also being an easy A.
Gave amazing and informative lectures. I learned a lot in class and the discussions were thoughtful and well organized. Take detailed notes on the lectures and participate in the discussion and you will be fine. She only has a midterm and a final which only focuses on the second half of the semester also two essays.
She is so good at talking about this topic - she's very passionate and engaging, and she really gives a solid new perspective on the topic of slavery. Attendance is required for lecture and she does NOT tolerate phone use, she will call you out. She made the switch to online this sem very easy. Very caring person. Exams are pretty easy.
Pujara is an amazing professor, but she can also be harsh when she needs to be. I learned a lot in the class.
Clark Pujara is clearly passionate about what she teaches and that makes it easy to learn. The exams are incredibly easy. The papers were more tricky, but still simple. However, attendance is mandatory and do not expect to be able to be on your phone or laptop in this class because she WILL call you out in front of 300 other people.
Lots of readings, but I only did the textbook ones and managed to get an A. Class is primarily taught by guest lecturers, so it doesn't flow very well, but relatively easy topics. Didn't like her lecture style, however, but she only lectures maybe 5 times so not a big deal. Show up to class and participate in discussion and you should be fine.
Intro to Comparative Ethnic Studies has many, many readings, and most of the lectures are done by guest lecturers, but the lectures Christy does herself are fantastic and passionate. The class is an easy A, but there are a lot of readings to do and it's sometimes hard to keep up. That said, I would definitely take a class with her again.
Amazing teacher! Very easy A! Go for it!
Lectures are mandatory but definitely easy A. Attendance and participation in discussion make up 20%. Shes very passionate and knowledgeable about the topic, but if youre white she makes you feel like you personally caused slavery.
Professor is very passionate about what she teaches. Teaches you the reality of history and treatment of African Americans. 2 exams, 2 papers easy if you go over lectures and know gist of readings. Book available for checkout at UW libraries. Class mandatory. Will call you out in class for phone, computer, talking, etc.
Professor Clark-Pujara is clearly very passionate about the class which helps make the material more fun to learn. I thought it was a really interesting class because I had never been taught African American history before and she explained it in a way that was very easy for a beginner.
Clark-Pujara assigns an overwhelming amount of reading materials. Her personality can come off conceited. Every lecture consists of a different topic and different lecturer from within the ethnic studies department. Although I did like listening to different professors, the class did not flow well.
Clark-Pujara is a professor who is really passionate about her work and is respectful to everybody in lecture. Her lectures can get really powerful as well. Even if you think you know about the struggles of African Americans before you take this course, you will gain a new perspective. Show up to class, take notes, and read, and this is an easy A.
AWESOME CLASS! Lectures are interesting and a lot of information but it is cleared up by a lot of Videos/movies. i would encourage taking notes on your computer to keep up. exams were VERY fair and the two papers were not long.
Very fair teacher--fair amont of work, fair grading, fair coverage of course materials. Just don't expect an easy A.
Professor Clark-Pujara is amazing! In lecture, her delivery is phenomenal and I really appreciate her curation of African American history. She is extremely passionate about her work and, while this course is often taken just for the Ethnic Studies requirement, she makes even the toughest subject matter extremely interesting and engaging.
I loved this class and the professor! I definitely got a lot out of lectures, and feel like I can now better participate in the dialogue about prevalent issues today. Lecture slides are online, and there are only two papers and two, non-cumulative exams. Attendance was mandatory, but I was always excited to go because the professor is awesome.
Don't take notes in lect. Read and study the powerpoint lectures. She's already taken notes for you. Don't need to memorize specific dates numbers. Write down character names from the movies if you want to get the ex. cred. on the tests. **Know how conditions effected the lives of the enslaved to score well on test essays.
Extremely easy ethnic studies class that really engages students! Clark-Pujara goes through lectures pretty fast, but they are very interesting! Two VERY simple exams (1 midterm and final) where if you showed up to class and took notes, you will get a 90%+. Attendance is mandatory and worth 10% of your grade, but its only twice a week.
She's clearly very passionate about the subject so it's great to see that come through in her lectures, even though she does basically just read off her notes. And she goes quickly. But the entire lecture is online so if you read ahead or print them out, the lecture will be a breeze. Only 2 papers and one midterm. Easy stuff. Would recommend.
Super easy class. Show up to class and take notes, attend discussion and participate. 20% of the grade is participation and attendance. Never cracked the text book and got A's on both exams. If you need an easy ethnic studies class take this one. Don't waste your money on the book though.
The topic is fairly interesting, but she reads directly from her notes the entire time and it is impossible to keep up, so taking notes is pretty much impossible.
