amazing class, pretty easy, and she is a great teacher. There is a lot of work, but as long as you grind, you'll do well
Dr. Andrews had a very organized canvas. Each assignment was very straight forward. Assignments are manageable as there were only 3 discussion posts and a quiz each week. The quizzes are VERY easy and NOT honor locked.
I took the online asynchronous version of intro psych with Professor Andrews. It was a pretty interesting class and I thought it to be very easy. We basically had two discussion posts a online quiz and a journal entry due every week which I found to be very manageable. She also was very responsive on email which was nice.
Dr. Andrews is clearly very involved and interested in her field of Psychology, and she shares that with her class through the lectures she has developed online. I felt this course was well put together, easy to follow, and had a good workload. I was very happy with her course and her teaching style!
Loved this class. From other people I've spoken to, the online format is so so much easier than the in-person format with any of the other 202 profs. An average week in this class consists of going over the material, 2 discussion posts, one quiz, and one journal. No exams, just a final project.
Dr. Andrews was such a great professor. You can tell she cares so much about what she is teaching and is very respectful/accommodating with her students. The testing format is made as non-stressful as possible and the content for the class is super interesting. I think she only teaches the honor section (?) but I actually think her class is easier.
I am in Psych 601 with this professor. If you are a psych major and you are also pre-health, pre-law, or pre anything looking for a capstone that is accommodating to your schedule, TAKE THIS CLASS. Assignments are extremely clear, graded promptly, and Chelsea is always accessible through email or office hours.
Dr. Andrews was all about the student's success, reach out to her with any and all questions and she will be eager to help. Her lectures and assignments were clear and she accepted late work. I took her class online and she communicated well to make students understood what they were being tested on, I definitely recommend her class!
This course was a breath of fresh air after struggling to get through PSY 210 last spring. Yes, it's a lot of content and assignments due daily, but all the information you need is given and easy to understand. Dr. Andrews managed to create a low stress environment in a course that is notoriously stressful. I cannot recommend this format enough!
I took honors psych 202 with Dr. Andrews spr'23 and it was an amazing experience! It was a discussion-based format and every class session was always a highlight of my day even though it was an 8am class. Exams were on the difficult side but there is extra credit to balance that out. Also, there is a final paper, which takes time but it was fun!
I took Dr. Andrews' asynchronous online section and it was great. Her canvas page is well-organized and the course topics are interesting. I only interacted with her over email, but she was kind and helpful when I did. I highly recommend taking psych 202 online with her if you're looking for an interesting and low-stress social science class.
I took this as an honors section. Andrews is very caring and attentive to students. I really enjoyed the format and her engagement with her students. Definitely recommend taking a class with Andrews!
She was really nice & clearly cares about her students. Even though it was an online class, took time to check in on students. There was a lot of homework to do but it all felt relevant and helped with understanding the material! Overall a great class & great professor :)
Don't expect any actual help from TAs or Dr. Andrews. This class has about 8 assignments a week (at least for the summer course) and you are expected to interact with it every day and for at least 4 hours 4 days a week. Make any mistake on an assignment don't expect to get credit, and neither the TA nor professor will tell you what you did wrong.
This class is manageable for a summer term but assignments are due everyday and it's two units per week. Just be prepared to work ahead! It's a lot easier than if taken in person in a semester. She's definitely a tough grader as she's very nit picky with grading and you will lose points for the smallest things. Always double check your work!
Loved this class. Professor was very sweet. Class fully online and she was always accessable. 5 Assignments each week that only take like 10-20 mins each tops. Final is a paper, no page requirement. Interesting content and def recommend for psych majors for major credit. Easy to work around your schedule!
One of my fav classes I have taken here. Every week has a consistent schedule, and the workload isn't bad. The material is interesting, and there is one large paper. As long as you watch lectures and read, you'll be totally fine. I loved the online aspect, because I could make my own schedule and balance it with my other classes.
This is my second class I've taken that was taught by Dr. Andrews. Her quizzes are fair, there are no big exams, and we have one final paper. You're graded on 2 written assignments, 1 course journal, and 1 quiz every week. I LOVE that the class was online because it offered flexibility with my other classes.
Psych464 online was a great class. Super easy, consisted of weekly readings and watching a (usually short) recorded lecture, and very short weekly quizzes and discussion posts. As long as you follow the instructions posted, everything is graded very fairly. Dr. Andrews was great, her lectures were super clear and coincided nicely with the quizzes.
Dr. Andrews has super clear expectations and her canvas page is extremely organized which makes navigating each module a breeze. The content is easy to understand and pretty interesting. Although I did not reach out to her, Dr. Andrews seems to genuinely care about students a lot. Would definitely recommend this course.
Dr. Andrews is extremely organized with her canvas courses. She gives clear, straight-forward lectures, and the class always knows exactly what her expectations are for assignments and papers. Pretty easy classes, and good communication via email if you need anything.
The easiest A. I got over 100%. Each week there are 2 discussion posts, a reflection, and a quiz. Final project but no tests. EC opportunity easy- participate in psych studies. I never actually talked to Dr. Andrews but she seems to genuinely care for her students and want the best. If you actually need to learn psych, don't take this class.
PYSCH 202 online was very easy. You have to do readings each week and submit 2 discussion posts, a course journal, and a quiz which is open note. There was no final exam, just a project that you can do in a couple hours. I finished my work for the week in roughly 2/3 days. 15 points extra credit available. Would recommend if you need PSYCH 202.
They curate readings to the class specifically instead of teaching by a textbook. She teaches using a flipped classroom. The classes are based on activities that further your knowledge from the readings. She does not lecture during class. There are two small writing assignments per week and one 8-10 page final paper.
Since this class was 100% online, it is difficult to rate Dr Andrews on the professor that she is. However, as for her course setup, I think she did an amazing job organizing an engaging, easy to follow curriculum. The layout is extremely easy to follow along with, and the assignments are enjoyable and rewarding. I recommend taking this course.
I LOVE Dr. Andrews! It's clear she cares so much about her students and helping them succeed in any way she can. She is one of the most hardworking and compassionate professors I've ever had and I wish I could take more of her classes :( If you're signing up for Psych 202 - Dr. Andrews is AMAZING!!!
flexible because you get a week after the deadline to get full points, but if you miss one part of the directions, you lose points. They also don't tell you what you did wrong, they just say to take a look at the instructions again. The info is interesting and it's structured well, there're just assignments everyday and lots of reading for them
I can tell Prof Andrews is caring person who wants us to succeed in class. However, the online Psych 210 was a massive disappointment and I would not recommend taking it. Grading is tedious and students are given zero feedback on what we got wrong, only that something was wrong. Also if you've taken AP stats, do not waste your time with this class
This class is amazing! The assignments are very engaging, informative, and get to the point. Doing the assignments in this class doesn't feel like a chore, and a majority of them are fun. Dr. Andrews is also very responsive if you email her, and you have chances to correct your assignments! Overall, it's very easy to work ahead and finish early!
I have taken three different classes with her and can honestly say she is one of the best lecturers I have ever had at UW-Madison. I have to take a capstone in the fall and specifically chose the class that she will be teaching. You can tell she loves her job and really cares about her students.
Dr. Andrews made the class more discussion-based, allowing for a more high school ambiance. This style made enjoying the course very easy; however, I am worried that we did not cover as much content as typical psych 202 classes. Dr. Andrews is a very kind, understanding, and caring teacher who is obviously passionate about teaching.
Dr. Andrews is one of, if not the best instructor I have had here at UW- Madison thus far. She is very approachable, created a wonderful classroom environment, is very organized and clearly loves Psychology. One of my friends took Psych 202 with Gallimore and hated it, so I was nervous for the class, but Dr. Andrews made it easy and enjoyable.
honors psych 202 has a ton of homework outside of class, lecture is more of a reinforcement but professor andrews is always there to help and things are very clear
SHE IS AMAZING!!! I have taken two classes with her already and plan to take another in the summer. Her canvas is so pretty and easy to follow, she truly cares about her students, and loves to chat with you! Her lectures are pretty fast, but she posts her slides and the recorded lecture so you can always go back and finish. TAKE HER IF YOU CAN!!!!!
She is one of my faves. Super organized, super easy (but you still learn), and stress free. She is super nice and she is very modern and well educated prof. Take her class!!
She is my favorite professor! She is so nice, her canvas is set up super nice for an online class, and her content is very specific to what the class is about. I cannot wait to take her class next semester and in the summer! Her dogs are also super cute which is a plus as well.
Prof Andrews was a super sweet, caring, and accessible professor who genuinely seemed to care a lot about her students. Her lectures were interesting and engaging, however the large majority of the class was textbook reading and self-teaching and lectures were straight from the book. The papers will save your grade in this class.
She is v accessible outside of class, and has a clear love for teaching. this class was completely asynch so it was 100% reading strt from the textbook, and lectures were strt from the textbook. The last 2 exams were easy, but the first was sooo hard. You have 2 400 word papers that help ur grade a ton, i j wish her lectures werent strt from book
Prof. Andrews is very genuine, kind, and knowledgable about her field. The lectures in this class were far too short for my taste, but if you read the book you'll be fine. Tests were open note and book when this was online so if you just know where to find the info., you're golden.
This course was asynchronous for me. The lecture videos were unnecessary because all she did was repeat things that was already mentioned in the book. If you read the book and do the assignments then you're good.
Andrews is nice, but her lectures kind of sound like she's talking to... children? You'll know what I mean when you watch lol. She's super accessible by email (I took this async), and will offer help if you ask. Lectures are super short and straight from the textbook. Honestly, as long as you read, you'll be good, but expect to read a lot.
the grading requirements are strict but non specific, so if you mess up even the structure of your post you get 1/3 points for assignments. every assignment is out of 3 so it matters. her tas did all the grading so i didn't speak to her at all throughout the semester. some posts require 14+ articles to read, and theres 6 posts a week. all busy work
She gives unclear instructions, and when I have emailed her and asked for clarification, she simply told me to copy and paste the instructions into a separate document and go through them step by step, which I already did. She docks 2/3 points for formatting errors, even if your content is correct. I wouldn't wish this class on my worst enemy.
This class had a ridiculous amount of busy work and assignments that were totally unnecessary. Also, the TA's grade everything super strict, if you miss one small thing you get points off. Seriously, I named a PDF file the wrong thing and got a 1/3, like really? overall, its a waste of time and I don't recommend it unless you need the credit
Instructor Andrews was one of the best professors I've had so far at UW! She was understanding with COVID, and cared about her students' well-being outside of class. The class was asynchronous this semester which was nice. There were 3 exams (open note), 2 papers, and a final project. I highly recommend this class, the content was interesting!
For an online class, I didn't think it was bad. Short lectures and textbook reading each week. 3 tests, all open book/note, 2 400 word position papers and a final project. Tests were long, but easy to search the book for answers if you paid attention during the readings. Prof Andrews provided updates and reminders throughout semester. It was asynch
Professor Andrews was very sweet, but the material she taught was overall kind of basic and not as in depth as I would have liked. The class literally was taught straight from the textbook. Lectures were ridiculously short.
Very nice professor but lectures were pretty much content straight from the book. Fair grading on assignments and she adjusted exam grades for questions that students did poorly on which is appreciated. Just prepare to read the textbook and teach yourself most of the material.
Although the class itself was fine and genuinely interesting in parts, the constant online assignments were largely busy work and frankly a waste of time. Most assignments were worth three points so if you lose points it matters. Andrews offered cookie-cutter responses when grading & was largely unhelpful and condescending when answering questions.
