Really nice.
Professor Kaspar is awesome. Good lectures. Course will prepare you for work in the food industry, practical and interesting information. Best advice is to attend lectures.
Come to class and you will do well. Exams are challenging but in-class and take-home assignments help your grade. Experience in food industry and FDA. Knowledgeable. Good lectures
He's willing to help if you reach out, but he definitely tries to make the class difficult. I've found it more difficult than Bio 151, Biochem 501, and Micro 301. It's a very interesting class and his teaching partner makes the class fun but it's definitely a harder class than it should be.
Clearly an expert in his field and good at drilling into you the most relevant topics. Exams can be a bit tough but with the in-class assignments it's not too difficult to get a good grade. I took this with micro 101/102 as my pre req and did just as well as the students who took 303/304. His teaching buddy Adam is hilarious and a great lecturer
good lecture, learned alot in class, however, he doesn't give much study material for exams, so you don't know what to expect. He's really brief when discussing completed assignments and exams.
Chuck is one of the best teachers I have learned from. Class is pretty straightforward: you show up each lecture, study slides, and do well. Challenging, no-nonsense mentality - yet extremely fair. Overloaded as department chair but not a grump. Hilarious, actually. You will find he cares deeply about you as a student if you give him the chance.
A great professor. Lecture heavy but very understanding and willing to compromise. He actually cares about the success of his students and always has real life applications for what he teaches.
food microbio is interesting, his class, not so much. remember the phrase "no such thing as dumb questions"? that doesn't apply here, hard to approach and ask for help since a) he wont know the answer b)makes u feel dumb. he is basically a old angry dude who hates the food industry and loves to have discussions. just memorize material to do well
Charles Kaspar is a down to earth, no nonsense kind of professor. He draws on his experience in both industry and academia to teach the course. As far as the material goes, he gives you everything needed to do well and is always willing to chat with students and answer questions. Overall a great professor teaching a very interesting class.
Kaspar was one of my favorite professors I've had at UW. He was very clear, he was clearly interested in the topic, and he delivered the material in an organized fashion. His test was VERY fair, and you didn't need to read the book. Come to lecture, study off your lecture notes and slides. I put a good amount off time into studying, but got an A!
AWESOME professor, I had a great time and even though it was an 8am lecture, I never missed it and that was definitely key in doing well in the class! Do not need to read the textbook, the exams are multiple choice...10 options each and the type where it could be multiple or none but usually they can be worked through rather easily.
Professor Kaspar is very nice, helpful and very clear in what he talks about each class.
good lectures
He was very interested in the material and was a pretty good lecturer. He posts all the power points online but I would suggest still going to class as he says a bit more about each slide.
Seems very interested and tries, just has a hard time getting some of the concepts across.
Professor Kaspar seemed to talk about what he wanted day to day and the lectures lacked continuity.
