Overall I got an 95% in the class (with correct weighing of categories), 100% on both midterms and 98% on the final. In the end I got an AB. The grading rubric was made clear two weeks before class ended, I thought I was doing well the entire semester, but turns out you need over 100% to get an A. Gave me huge whiplash. Nice personality though.
Not a great idea to take any of her classes... super harsh on grading. a great personality doesn't make up for the idi**** grading scale that she has
First of all it was flipped classroom which is not the most ideal. All she teaches is just middle/high school geometry. Too much homework, have little things every single day. Very poor grading scale, the only way of getting an A is getting over 100%. Just feels like she has all the "perfect plans" throughout but very very poor execution.
Dr Williams was an amazing professor for Calc 3 - she was very clear in her explanations and made the content easy to digest. She gave note templates online to use for lecture which is very helpful because it made the lecture easier to follow along with. She definitely made going to her 7:45 am lecture worth it!
Dr. Williams is one of my favorite math professors ever. She made getting up for a 7:45 AM lecture--dare I say it--enjoyable?! Dr. Williams cares very deeply about her classes, particularly if you show up to lecture and are engaged with the materials and your classmates. Her style of teaching made it very clear what was going to be on each exam.
Professor Williams is a great professor who does a good job explaining complex topics. She also provides videos of all her lectures and the lecture notes which makes it easier to do well in the course. If you have the option to take a class with professor Williams, you should do it.
I maybe went to the first two weeks of lectures (my bad for picking the 7:45AM lecture guys), but she was amazing in that all of her lectures were recorded and posted to canvas (she is absolutely the best for this). I cannot stress how important going to discussions were, my TA was 100 bazillion times the best!
Dr Williams made Calc 3 interesting for me. Her explanations of complex topics are clear and concise. She even posted annotated guided notes along with the corresponding lecture video for anyone who missed class. Tests are fair, but are weighted heavily (87%). As long as you do past exams for practice, you should do well. 10/10 would take again.
I really enjoyed my time in this class. I learned a lot and was taught very well. All lectures had a video recording too which was nice.
Having an extra office hour for the final exam and reply questions posted on Piazza on time.
I did not attend almost any lectures following the first month of class. Reading the book was more helpful than going to lecture.
Nothing learned in lecture was on exam
Really good lecturer. She really cares about her students. If you attend classes, you are sure to get a good grade with Dr. Willams.
Professor Williams is one of the best teachers I have ever had. Lectures reminded me of high school, but in a good way- she often reviews topics from the last lecture at the start of the next. It is clear that Professor Williams wants you to succeed. Take her classes at all costs
Best prof in math department
Absolutely a fantastic professor in Math 221.
Dr. W was seriously the best math teacher I have ever had. I already took calc in high school but her lectures helped me gain a deeper understanding of the concepts that I lacked before taking this class, and I know that wouldn't be true had I had a different professor. She gives off middle/high school teacher vibes in the best way possible.
Cassie's lectures were very clear and she is very well spoken. She does good review for exams and the homework assignments are helpful for exams and in class work. Discussions are not essential but provide good practice.
Dr. W's lectures are always super clear and actually enjoyable to come. You can tell that she really cares how her students do, even in such a big class. Definitely take 221 with Dr. Williams if you can.
Amazing professor, taught the materials very well and made sure students understand her clearly. She was also very nice and caring for the students.
Godsend professor. I love you Dr Cassie Williams!!!!!!
Dr. Williams is a great professor. She is a very skilled lecture and keeps humor in class which makes lecture more enjoyable. Often during lecture, she opens the floor to questions and makes sure to explain answers clearly. This is a freshman heavy class.
Williams is very good at explaining concepts and is very organized. 90% of the class has taken calculus before however, so there is no curve.
She is great. She explains stuff very well. Would 100% take any math course with her teaching again
Dr. Williams is incredible! Super well organized lectures and you can tell she really cares about the well being of her students. Would love to take a course with her again!
CASSIE IS A GEM AMONG THE UW MADISON MATH DEPT!!! Cannot put in to words how spectacular of an instructor Cassie. She makes the content seem so simple and her notation is clearly understood, unlike some other math professors who worry about being too formal in their notation. She is a genuinely good person! She even got applause the last day of lec
The math department at UW Madison is really poorly organized and set up, but it has nothing to do with the professors. Dr. Williams was by far the best math professor you can get with that lecture/discussion setup. Beyond that, though, she was SO caring, kind, and supportive. She has a lot of students, but made each felt heard, and was responsive.
Brilliant lectures and very caring. Best math professor I've had in college so far
Dr. Williams is absolutely phenomenal. She has a gift for taking complex concepts and simplifying them to a much more understandable level. She loves math and gets others excited about it, and also genuinely cares deeply about each and every one of her students. As like other Calc courses at UW, the grading is very exam heavy.
Absolute beast
Ms. Williams was one of the best math professors I've ever had. it's clear that she truly enjoys teaching and wants her students to succeed. There we a lot of tough events that happened this semester, and she made it a point to tell her students that she cared about them and their wellbeing. Her lectures were amazing and I can't praise her enough.
I love Cassie, she is able to teach math is such an understanding why. Moreover, she is down to earth as a person which makes me and others really respect her. Would take again 100% for Math 234.
I had Cassie for 234. She was an amazing professor who explained topics well and went above and beyond to make sure her students understood in what can be a very confusing course. She posted annotated notes that were clearly written enough that I felt comfortable on a topic from them alone if I ever missed a lecture. I would absolutely recommend.
she is a wonderful professor and really cares about her students. lectures are mandatory but so so so helpful and she makes me cry tears of joy every time i think about her. MWAH.
Dr. W is a GREAT lecturer! Info is clear, easy to follow, and she makes note outlines that you can fill in during lecture. Exams, especially the final, are tough but that can be expected in a calc class. I wish Dr. Williams taught every math course at UW because I would take each one with her if I could.
Dr. W is one of the most effective instructors I've met in the Math Dep. She's always prepared for lecture and shows lots of care for students, making them considerably useful and as enjoyable as a calc lecture can be. Thanks Dr. W!!! 234 is not easy, go to lectures (unless ur proffesor sucks)
Professor Williams is one of the best math teachers I have ever had! Her notes are amazing and lectures are super clear. She always gives great real-life examples to help you understand the topic, and tries to make lectures enjoyable. She obviously cares about her students' wellbeing and is a great person overall. Highly recommend for Math 234!
i am in love with cassie williams. math 234 is a shitshow but i still love her so much. she cares so much about her students and makes the material so much easier to understand. i wish i could give her a big hug. I LOVE YOU DR WILLIAMS!!!!
