Professor rarely came prepared with lecture material and instead would just ramble for 75 minutes. More than 3/4 of the advertised course content was never covered. He always took an "I'm right because I'm older than you" approach to feedback, which is not only frustrating, but a severely outdated argument.

This professor didn't come to class prepared ever. He approached the topic in ways that weren't equitable for all students. His own textbook is mandatory for the course, and he would preach the whole 75-min class about how good the book was. His preaching was often about equality for all, but then would often call out students based on their race.

Carl is SO passionate about his work and it shows. He tends to go on tangents during lectures that have a meaning, somewhere. He talks very cryptically and it is hard to draw conclusions to his lectures.

You can tell that he cares about his students.

Carl has real wisdom about teaching, learning, and being if you're willing to listen. He is bringing perspective and care that is truly impactful. Take the time to really listen, ask questions, and learn about the things he has witnessed and you will benefit from this class.

Carl is very passionate about what he teaches and he truly wants us to learn. However, he will cold call on students and force them to participate or ask about the readings, so you better read. He tends to ramble on sometimes, but that is because he cares about getting important information out there for future educators.

If you have issues with social anxiety, I would avoid taking 406 or other classes with Carl because not only will he not be understanding, you will be made fun of during lectures. Consistently shamed the class as a whole for not being prepared for our careers and then spent most lectures rambling without giving any applicable information or advice.

This dude will disrespect you on the first day of class. He has no respect for students with anxiety disorders and actively makes fun of them in class by calling them to the front to answer questions without taking the time to learn names, and also will shame you if you sit in the back. He also doesn't give constructive feedback to build off of.

Grant is incredibly knowledgeable about education, especially multicultural education; you will learn a LOT in his class, although it won't truly connect until the next semester or so. It's an easy A. He doesn't bother learning names so attendance isn't super mandatory. Grant is VERY opinionated and isn't very respectful towards his students.

Carl doesn't have teach conventionally. Sometimes in the moment it was hard to realize that what he was saying was making me better. Carl truly wants you to learn, he doesn't care about grades. He truly loves all his students & tries to prepare them to be fantastic teachers. It focuses a lot on diversity and what YOU want to do as a teacher.

Carl is very wise and passionate about multicultural education and is worth learning from, however, he's a bit of a hypocrite. He preaches getting to know your students but failed to learn even one person's name in our class of 18. Most of the class readings are his own work which are great reads but then we should call the class "What Carl thinks"

Professor Grant is extremely wise, but also stuck in his ways. He is not a terrible professor as other people have rated him, but he will push you and challenge you in ways you have not been challenged before. There are no obvious answers in this class or this major. If you truly care about being an educator you can see the method in his madness.

Learned NOTHING! His class should be relabeled, "Advanced Diversity 364." It seems the Dept. of education is more concerned with creating social justice warriors, rather than professional educators. My advice is, DROP OUT of the certification program! Substitute teach 1st to see how depressing this profession truly is, then maybe get certified.

Carl definitely is experienced and qualified in his field, however he likes to pick on students and berate them in from of the class if they don't answer in a way he likes. He never learns anyone's names in a class of 25, and is very unclear of expectations. He also never answers emails, and in class just dances around answering questions

Professor Grant is a fantastic idol to all those inspiring to be teachers. However, he wants his students to get to know there students, and he did very little of this. In our class of 25 he did not know all the names. Also does not clearly project ideas of assignments and your progress in the course.
