This class was very interesting, however his TA for the class was absolutely horrible. He would constantly not grade things, provide horrible feedback. He would also give out very scathing reviews of your work a couple hours before its due so you can change it. Worst TA I have ever had, he should not be allowed to teach ever again.
Professor Andersen is the perfect teacher for this class, he comes from Denmark giving him an interesting connection to the stories we read. His lectures don't fully pertain to quizzes, but he makes them interesting and brings up good points. Pretty easy class.
He does a lot of lecturing, and for the most part it is not mandatory that you show up to class. He does give random in-class quizzes. There is a lot of reading, but its mostly fairytales, but they can be really long
He gave lectures that had nothing to do with readings or really anything. If you memorize what he says you will get a good grade but you cannot interpret on your own, which is strange for a literature class.
Professor Andersen gives interesting lectures that give good insights into all the fairytales. For a literature class, there is generally not too much reading, with the exception of some nights when it takes an hour just to read everything. He's from Denmark which makes the class even more interesting, and incorporates humor into lectures too!
Professor Andersen is absolutely incredible! He embodies everything I believe a professor should be: humble, respectful, intelligent, dedicated. His lectures are fantastic and philosophical without being overly complicated. He is clearly passionate about both the subject and his students. Take a class with him!
If you are thinking about taking a class with Professor Anderson, TAKE IT!!! This guy is the best. I have never had a professor that is more caring than him. He constantly reiterates that he is there for his students and wants to help them succeed. This class is about fairytales which is awesome already, and he makes it even more enjoyable.
This class was great. Would recommend.
As a stem major I was just looking for an easy A lit credit, I do not like English type classes at all but I loved this one. Andersen is honestly so amazing and just a great guy and professor. I will look into taking another class with him. I cannot say enough great things about him. If you are considering taking a class with him, do it.
Professor Andersen is great! I had him this spring and was always super helpful and passionate about the topics. I was even very generous dropping low scores and giving us a few days off to ease up on the load with this tough semester. If you take 275 with him, flipped fridays are the only thing you really need to spend time on.
Andersen is an amazing professor. I am a stem major but his class was probably the best literature/english class I have ever taken. He truly cares about the well being of his students and is open to having "coffee hour" every so often so he can connect with his students. Wish I could take this class again. The material is really interesting.
Super philosophical lectures. Not a difficult class at all, the lectures felt more like a break from a busy day than a task. The readings are mostly fairytales, very fun, relaxing class.
