The readings feel endless in this class, but if you go to lecture the one exam and reflections are relatively easy. You are required to buy her book, but look for them online because you really only need them for papers. Attendance is required for discussion and lecture so don't miss and enjoy the wacky content.

Dr. Whelan is truly my favorite professor at UW Madison. I genuinely looked forward to going to her lectures twice a week and wish she taught more classes that I could take!

I ended up with an AB in this class. Super awesome class - I just didn't go to lecture so attendance kind of screwed me and I did none of the readings which you get quizzed on each week which actually kind of affect your grade. SUPER easy tests, and i studied the night before for all of them.

Prof. Whelan is one of the best professors that I have had at UW .She is such an inspirational person and her lectures are interesting. She really cares about her students and wants them to succeed! I will be taking more of her classes in the future.

Although I had some grievances with the class itself, Professor Whelan was amazing She was very inspirational, cared about the students, and unlike every other one of my classes, I could make it through a whole lecture while staying interested. The subject matter is certainly interesting albeit debatable, and Professor Whelan did an incredible job

Professor Whelan is literally the best ever, she's so knowledgable and well known in her field. This class is not that hard and super interesting and relevant. The class is kind of hard to get into but definitely worth it 10/10
