About this rating

Raw average: 1.89/5 from 27 quality ratings. The adjusted rating blends this with the UW review average (3.66/5), weighted as 20 additional ratings. Smaller samples stay closer to that average. Each captured review is counted once in the prior; this does not correct who chooses to leave a review.

He is very lenient on the deadlines—you get up to one day after the deadline to submit for full credit! In the final, he stated that he really wanted everyone to get a good grade. Likely they did. The notes have errors, but they largely can be subd in for Dum. sections. HW is mostly too easy. Most of the grade ~90% is exams

Quality 5/5Difficulty 2/5
He really cares about the students and wants everyone to do well. Most of the final grade is determined by how you do on the final, but the final was not hard. He greatly values student feedback. He knows the content very well and is good at coming up with examples.

I wohld rather taking notes instead of going to his lecture. Poorly organized board writing, never stops, difficult homework problems without any hints or instructions. Never take with him.

Subbed one time for my modern alg class, genuinely the worst lecture I've ever sat through. Goes fast, doesn't take a breaks, board is very disorganized. Don't take

Quality 4/5Difficulty 3/5
Chenxi should not teach undergrads, but don't be too scared of his low rating. He goes way too deep into the theory, given what is on the homework on exams, but he cares a lot about his students and asks for a lot of feedback. His lectures are confusing, but he can come up with examples on the spot if you ask him, which helps clarify things.

MATH 541
Quality 5/5Difficulty 2/5
I don't know what the other reviews are talking about, I've never had a professor ask for as much feedback as Chenxi. He also had a very lenient grading system and he is very sharp and can easily answer any question or come up with an example if you have a question. He is great at communicating and grades everything himself very quickly.
