He was very difficult to understand. The class was poorly attended, and the language barrier made exams confusing - especially since he would not clarify any questions, even if his English was not clear. Lectures consisted of him reading his slides, which came from the book, but he was very helpful when he actually showed work.Rate My Professors ↗

Horribly hard to understand and confusing throughout. Not helpful in explaining anything.Rate My Professors ↗

One of the worst professors I've ever had. He was extremely hard to understand because of his thick accent. He literally read through all of the lecture power points. Once in a while he would write on the chalkboard but it was difficult to follow along. We were required to do some pointless homework problems on a computer program called "R".Rate My Professors ↗

He seemed like a nice enough guy, but I disagree with how he taught the course. I was often confused as to what was important to know. I strongly disagree with his policy that no clarifying questions can be asked during exams, given that English is clearly not his first language, and it's hard to know what he expects. Overall, a frustrating course.Rate My Professors ↗

I'm not really sure if it was the class or him, but Xu taught at a glacial pace. He also has an accent that is hard to understand. His lectures completely come from the books and by the end less than 40% of the class went. It's very easy to teach yourself, but without a good TA you are toast.Rate My Professors ↗
