We only had two essay exams. People did better than me in the class. Pay attention to quotes and page numbers. Grades evenly on your argument and understanding of the concepts. Super easy to talk to. Takes your concern for your grade seriously. If required but worried about your grade, just chat post-lec or office hours, he wants you to succeed.Rate My Professors ↗
I took HIS518 with Dr. Goldberg and while it was the most reading I have ever had to do (60+ pages per class) it was a fascinating course. His lectures are incredible and summarize the readings incredibly well. He also really listens to your contributions and builds off of them. Despite this course having a ton of heavy reading, Prof Goldberg made every lecture engaging and clear. Grading was based on attendance, pass/fail reading reflections, and 2 take-home exams that were very clear if you went to lectures and did the readings. This is my second class with Professor Goldberg and I would recommend taking whatever you can with him. The class was small so it was important to be prepared in order to contribute but the actual graded work was only two papers that were fairly graded.Rate My Professors ↗
So many readings, which got confusing and difficult to follow at times, but prof Goldberg does a great job of explaining the readings. He takes attendance every class and it is a part of the final grade so be aware. Overall he is a great lecturer and seems to really care. However, I probably wouldn't recommend taking soc475 unless you have to.Rate My Professors ↗
It's a comm b class so be prepared to do LOTS of writing. Goldberg is very rude to students who interrupt lecture and are late. If you're going to be late to class, just skip. If you have a good TA the class is pretty easy, if not it can be very difficult. Pretty average overall.Rate My Professors ↗
