Cathy really cares about her students! My major complaint is that she takes forever to put grades in, so you don't know where you stand until the final day of grading. This class was project heavy, and they were all in groups, so be careful of that as that depends on your teammates. Her class is interesting if you're interested in the topic.
I don't think I have learned a single thing that enriches my view of the world or that will serve me in any way outside of class. Cathy if you're reading this you need to do better, You have no manner of engaging and inspiring students with interesting ideas or concepts.u. Cathy is nice, but her class is entirely focused on dry academic literature
Her passion and knowledge of linguistics is clear. The class is very difficult, however her lectures are helpful. The final was open note/take home.
Dr. Stafford is awesome! She's super passionate and expressive in lectures in a way that makes them engaging even if the material is boring. It's clear that she cares about her students, too-- she makes an effort to learn everyone's name and is always willing to offer help if something is confusing.
Professor Stafford is great! She is funny and passionate about linguistics. Her only downfall is that she takes forever to put grades in!!
All of Prof Stafford's lectures were asynchronous so never really interacted with her, but I found her lectures really easy to follow and the exams were very straightforward. Nothing bad to say! I thought the class was organized well. Just make sure to read all the material and you're good to go!
This class was confusing and messy. Cathy was great! She's very caring! TA was not so great, rude at times. Grades were barely put in and never really knew what my grade was the entire semester. Graded on two exams and a role play. Do poorly on one thing and there goes your A. Participation required in discussion and lecture.
Granted the class I took with her was new this semester, however it was incredibly disorganized, feedback on exams took three weeks or more, lectures were never really connected to the textbook. Grades for things besides exams were never put in, so you never really knew what your grade was. My TA was chill though, so hope you get a good TA.
