Carl is a very understanding professor. He places a lot of importance on being present at lectures, but he doesn't make it mandatory. He will work with you to succeed in his course, and provides opportunities to learn outside the course. His lectures are engaging, and prepare you well for the content of the course. Completely recommend

Carl is one of the most goated professors I've had. He's extremely passionate about his content, has interactive lectures, gives a lot of real-life examples, and there's barely any homework. He has office hours as well as 5-6 office hours opportunities during the days before a test. I would recommend going to the discussions; they help a lot.

Carl was an amazing professor who truly cared about his students. He made time to help, extended office hours, and built real connections in class. His passion for teaching showed every day. He's understanding if you put in effort. I'm so glad I took this class my last semester at UW!

Carl was an amazing professor. I would 100% take his class again. He is more than happy to help you by providing lots of office hours. If you attend lectures and discussion and take notes, you will be more than prepared for his exams.
