Professor Whittle's lectures are great, he doesn't hesitate to help you understand if you are lost, and he is very thorough with the course material. Going to lecture will guarantee at minimum a passing grade, not going will set you behind severely. Prof. can be difficult to understand at times, but simply ask for clarity and he will not hesitate.

He is very thorough in his explanations, if you don't understand what is happening, he won't hesitate to help you. I liked how nothing was on canvas, except for the textbook. Showing up to lectures will guarantee at minimum a passing grade.

For 562: Amazing. Most engaged in a class I've ever been after 4 years at UW. Great at fostering curiosity and arguments about the content. Homework and readings are very manageable. First philosophy class ever and I felt like I could jump right in. Highly recommend 562 with Bruno

This class is easy and the exams are straightforward. It gets relatively challenging in the final third because of more abstract concepts. I was doubtful about his style of teaching (chalkboard) but I've grown to really enjoy it. He doesn't post much on Canvas so if you're lost you have to go to office hours or teach yourself. Don't miss lecture!

Really my only complaint is the structure of the class. Course material is not posted on Canvas (slides or notes - uses a chalkboard), so if you miss lecture for any reason or are confused by a concept the only option is office hours. The textbook is unclear as well, as noted by other reviews.

Bruno explains well, comes prepared, shows interest and care, and gives solid material for exam prep. Very fair grader. You'll pass if you do the weekly assignments and go to lectures. Exams are very fair if you understand the concepts. The way he teaches makes PHILOS 221 an interesting choice to fill humanities credits.

His lectures are example based with him handwriting everything on the board in class. That said, he does not give you any notes, definitions, posts on canvas, or feedback. I had to teach myself the content, and the textbook isn't great, so I had to resort to using other sources to actually learn anything. Exams are needlessly difficult, no curves.

211 is EXTREMELY easy. You have 10 HWs, 4 exams, and attendance is not required. He gives practice sets that are exactly like the exams. His lectures are not always exciting d/t the slow paced nature of the class, but he gives plenty of examples. Some students do not like him bc he WILL respond accordingly if you ask a silly question.

I really enjoyed the content of Philos 211. You would expect the professor of a logic course to be logical, and Professor Whittle is. He explains content clearly and encourages participation. He tries to learn everyone's name.

Bruno is a charismatic guy who knows what he is talking about and is always open to questions. That said, be warned. Philos 211 is extremely easy and can be very boring at times. Started off doing textbook readings and going to lecture, but you really dont need to do both (just go to lecture). Good class to take before the LSAT.

Bruno Whittle is a fun and challenging professor who is not afraid to call you out. He is a great lecturer, but this class is definitely not easy. Very helpful if you plan to go to law school or take the LSAT. You must go to lecture to do well in this class, and the homework's are more important than you think.

Philos 211 has super boring subject matter but Bruno is a good teacher and a fairly easy grader. Not a lot of work required for the course, would definitely take his class again

Professor Whittle is an amazing professor. As long as you attend lecture and actually follow along and do the problems, you should be able to get a good grade. The bad reviews on here were probably from students who got a bad grade from not going to class. Tests are graded heavily, but super fair questions. I recommend his logic class to anyone!

Fantastic teacher, I have no clue what the earlier reviews are talking about. Explains course material well and not a hard workload. The class averages on the homework and exams are really high.

I had the privileged opportunity to take a course with Professor Whittle last semester. I'm not quite sure why some others have doubts about his lecturing style, as he had extensively prepared his students for the logical reasoning and critical thinking needed for the LSAT/GMAT exams and beyond. Don't let a rare chance pass by.

Professor Whittle did a good job at covering the material in lectures and provided lots of practice for the exams. Homework was very reasonable. His lectures could be repetitive but that was just the nature of the material. I didn't think the class was that difficult.

Professor Whittle is allegedly British but the way he teaches his class would make you think that he is from Mars. Seriously, I have never sat through a lecture where seemingly the entire course material gets covered and recovered nearly every lecture yet not a single person is able to retain any information. Also the textbook has spelling errors.

This class is insanely information heavy. Ive never been in lecture with someone who can talk about the same thing over and over, circles. I sit in lecture and feel like Im retaining no information. The text book isnt much clearer either. The homework takes hours and you get no explanations. Im convinced most of the material has been made up.
