Bob truly cares about his students and their education. While there was a lot of pre class readings, each added something to my education and had a point. I was hesitant going into the class because he doesn't have the best rate my professor, but I have come to realize that many of the bad reviews stem from a year with a massive cheating scandal.
makes lectures seem easy but then exam questions have basically nothing to do about what he talked about and is a small detail he might have mentioned once and also grades super hard on the exams. Plays favorites, purposely sees your hand raised but will call on someone who has spoken lots already. doesn't give feedback for assignments he grades
Bob is a really nice guy and great professor. However, my only big thing that has annoyed me is that he assigns a heavy amount reading for pre-class work that is worth very little points and often take a very tedious amount of time. Also he is a tough grader on the exam as well
I took Bob Batt recently he was a terrible teacher. I've heard he doesn't let you move midterms for job interview. Truly pathetic man that has been tenured so they cannot fire him. You'll expect dumb case studys from HBR over the entire course.
Bob is a nice guy and great personality. Final exam was extremely difficult. Initially in the semester he said exam was not cumulative, then 2 weeks before he said it is. Took the exam, it was not just cumulative it was 90% material from first half of class. Was extremely difficult and tanked many people grades
My favorite prof EVER. Classes are mostly discussions based on readings so you do have to prepare beforehand and participate a decent amount to do well, but it is not difficult. Quizzes and exams are open note, so pay attention and take notes and you should have no problem. However if service ops itself isnt interesting to you, youll be bored.
Prof Batt is a very nice man. He really enjoys quality participation and you also get graded on your participation, so don't be afraid to talk. There are many case studies and readings, but most are interesting. Pre-lecture surveys typically. He is accommodating and very easy to ask questions to. I loved this class and I enjoyed Prof Batt!
Great guy! Prof. Batt really cares about his students and encourages participation in class. He is a very engaging lecturer!
Professor Batt is the best instructor I've had in the school of business. He makes the content accessible and interesting, and the workload is very fair. All quizzes/exams are open book/open note. Lots of time given for the group project. He cares and understands: he makes it a really pleasant class. I wish more professors were like Prof. Batt!
Bob is a great professor, the lectures were always entertaining and informative. You learn a lot of really useful concepts that will help in almost any job. This class has made me want to pursue a career in service operations.
An awesome guy who really cares about his students. Does a great job of explaining the science, strategy, and art of the service sector. The service sector makes up more than 80% of GDP, so its safe to say this class is important. Is passionate about what he does, and cares. If you read, and participate in class, you are guaranteed at least an A/B.
Good guy who breaks down the service industry in a very interesting way. Although the content may be dry at times, it offers a very interesting perspective on many of the big organizations. If you read and participate, you will absolutely do well. Quizes are open note, and homework encouraged to do with your classmates. Wants students to succeed.
One of the most arrogant professors. Makes you participate in class but only cares about the students who work for big companies like Amazon. He does not care about his students. Gives a final group project on top of a ridiculous final exam. Also gives in-class quizzes that should take 30+mins and gives you 15 mins. Don't take unless you have to.
Not worth taking. Taking something more engaging and interesting.
Awful. I would not recommend. The class is not engaging and I do not feel like it will benefit future career goals.
Professor Batt has engaging, helpful and interesting lectures. He genuinely cares about helping you learn the material and concepts and is the most practical professor I have had in how he runs and organizes the class curriculum.
