I am have taken two classes that she taught. Personally really really love her. She is an amazing person. She cares a lot about her students well being. For example, she once spends the time to make me feel better after a speech contest. She is really nice in grading and with her test. She is the best Chinese proffer I have seen so far. Super nice!Rate My Professors ↗

Contrary to other reviews, she is a good professor. The homework comes straight from the slides, and the tests come straight from questions in the homework. She is also helpful and fair. You would have to try to fail this class. Basic effort ensures a passing grade.Rate My Professors ↗
Quality 2/5Difficulty 2/5
Bei Yang's lectures are boring and not at all helpful towards learning Chinese. Her teaching style is extremely lazy; she basically just reads off lecture slides and only calls on students that are native speakers of Chinese or close to fluent. I would recommend taking Chinese abroad in the Tianjin summer program to avoid taking this professor.Rate My Professors ↗

Bei Yang was a great professor although she is hard to understand as she speaks with a high tone, she is always willing to help, she will call on you often though be ready to answer questions!Rate My Professors ↗
Quality 3/5Difficulty 2/5
Lectures are very straightforward, go over sentence structures and vocabulary and she calls on students to use the words in a sentence. Effective strategy, except she can be confusing and often uses too much English. Tests are like the homework, dictations are manageable. The TAs help to reinforce the material, she is a decent professor. Easy A.Rate My Professors ↗
Quality 3/5Difficulty 2/5
Contrary to what most people are saying, Yang is a decent teacher. Her style is very Chinese, i.e. she will say something and you will repeat it. You're expected to speak at least once every class, generally using the sentence structures learned. You may not learn much in lecture, but discussions are there and she is always willing to help and talkRate My Professors ↗
