He sometimes flies through dense/difficult course content, but would often end lectures 10-20 minutes early so it wasn't too overwhelming. His tests are very fair, and he is definitely very caring. I would not recommend taking this course if you are not a neurobiology major. The class is far more biological than any psychology class I've taken.
Loved this course! Anthony can move a little fast during his lectures so you make sure you're taking notes. Three big exams are each 25% of your grade. Exams were a lot easier than I expected since the course materials were pretty heavy. Overall, lots of memorization but interesting topics. WATCH THE REVIEW VIDEOS FOR EXAMS! SO HELPFUL!
I absolutely loved this class. Multiple topics were brought up that were never even mentioned in other classes I have taken at UW, and there definitely was evidence used to support his claims as this is what we were tested on! Professor Auger was extremely kind and understanding towards his students and I would take his class again in a heartbeat.
A lot of the topics in this class were presented without evidence. The professor would often make bold claims and then present graphs that didn't support his stance or present a graph then say "but I actually disagree with that".The class was easy to pass and Professor Auger seems like he cared about his student.I just didn't learn anything.
He's a really nice guy, but he wastes a lot of time explaining that he doesn't want to offend anyone when talking about sex/gender. I'm not conservative by any means but his lectures can be politically charged to the extreme-- he makes bold statements about transitioning (especially for children) with little evidence to back them up.
I took this class in Spring of 2021 online. The content (for me) was a bit difficult but Anthony explained everything very well. He has a professional aura to him but it is apparent that he cares about his students. I really liked how organized his lectures were and always looked forward to them. Just make sure to pay attention and take good notes!
This is Tony's Epigenetic class (its changes class code frequently). He is an amazing guy, very personable. I took this class fully online, and not to his fault (I still really enjoyed going to class), but I think this class would be much better in person. This is a small class, so having natural conversation with him would have been super nice
Professor Auger has been my absolute favorite professor at UW! He is SO sweet and incredibly caring. If I could take all of my psych/genetics classes with him I would.
I took the Epigenetics capstone with Auger. Discussion felt more like a comfortable conversation than a forced discussion. He is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about epigenetics. Guy is hilarious. Grades were based on two presentations of research, an exam (which was very clear), a final paper, and easy participation. Amazing class and prof
I took Tony's capstone course on epigenetics. It was difficult since I had no genetics background, but he made the material easy to understand. Assignments seemed difficult but he is very helpful and wants everyone to succeed. He's an all-around great guy and great professor. I learned a lot in his class!
Auger was a brilliant professor. You could tell he was passionate about his research. Though he talked fast at times, he was always very clear and his TAs always did a great job explaining things during discussion. Everything you need to know in order to do well on exams gets repeated and emphasized in lectures. Pay attention and come to class!
Tony's a great professor. However, the class was somewhat unorganized and lectures were taken from the textbook. Exams were easy, but the class was moderately hard because everyone always scored in the AB range. This was the only class I've taken that had to reverse-curve an exam.
Knowledgable and clear, seems like a great person
