Dr. Menzel is a great professor and is really passionate about her work! Her class is relatively easy, Honors automatic, and we had weekly quizzes and a group final project. Easy grading and really understandable professor. Would take another class from her.
While I did enjoy this class and all of the discussions that went with it, I wish Annie Menzel wouldn't show her political side in the classroom as much. The topics can get political and make you feel like you have to pick one way of something.
Super interesting class while not being too hard. Very knowledgable and all lectures were recorded. She was understanding, and would give extensions if you asked (including for the whole class by a week when we noted we were tired). Overall great; would rec' to anyone.
I loved the GWS 103 honors seminar. Annie is passionate about the material and made me feel empowered and supported. The course offers rich history and valuable insights, helping me make informed health choices and critically examine gender and the medical world. The readings are dense but worth it, and grading is fair, rewarding effort.
GWS 103 is quite literally the easiest class I have ever taken. From what I've seen Professor Menzel is super nice and passionate about teaching and her TAs are great. Discussion is the only thing required, all lectures are posted. Quizzes are weekly and super simple, 2 written assignments and a final. I would recommend!!
I took this for a science credit and it was AMAZING! Professor Menzel is so caring and thoughtful. Getting a good grade in this class is super attainable and you learn some insightful and useful material. Attendance is not mandatory, weekly open note quizzes, and critical analysis reflections with plenty of time to do them. Would 100% recommend!
This was her first semester teaching this content but she is SO passionate about it and you can tell. Every class was a joy for me, I truly had the best experience learning from her and the scholars she discussed with us. I feel empowered, enlightened, and ready to be apart of the movement. Annie is truly the best! Take this class!
Annie is one of those most thoughtful, caring professors there is, but also extremely intelligent on the subject area. The class is very discussion-based and has 3 reflection essays and 1 final project. Annie is really also really understanding if you talk to her. I loved this class and if you can take it with Professor Menzel please do!!!
I have taken Professor Menzel for GWS 103 as well as GWS 449. She is one of the most incredible professors I've ever had. She is so passionate about what she teaches and always extends such warmth and empathy towards students. Her classes are some of the most informative I've taken on campus & yet some of the most reasonable in terms of grading.
Basically long as you show up to class and submit the assignments she will give you an A. She presents lots of interesting materials to engage with in class - highly recommend!!
Easiest but also very interesting class. Highly recommend. Didn't do a single reading but attended most lectures (she posts slides so if I missed I wouldn't be behind) Just go to discussion and you will be fine.
Take this for your natural science credit!!! Professor Menzel is really passionate about the course & lectures are great (but not mandatory). Online weekly quizzes are most of your grade and they are open note with two attempts each. Really interesting and informative course for how easy it is!
GWS 103 was such a great and easy class. Lectures were posted online (video and powerpoint) so I rarely attended in person. Just go to discussion and glance over the readings and you get full points. The weekly quiz was also super easy with 1 project that was a little hard, but you have a lot of time to do it. 10/10 you should take.
GWS 103 was overall a pretty easy class. If you need natural science credits, I would recommend this class. Weekly quizzes, but they are open-note online, and you have two. The majority of your grade is made up my discussion section participation and the weekly quizzes. Easy A
Amazing professor, and I think every student should be required to take this class. Professor is incredibly understanding and caring. Discussions mandatory but you don't do much in them. Tests online and easy, one short written assignment. Lots of readings but most people should already have knowledge on the majority of the content.
This was my Favorite course I've taken thus far and recommend 103 for every student who felt let down by their high school sex ed program. Prof Menzel provides lots (and I mean ALOT) of interesting material and I was never bored in this class. I switched my major and whole career path after 103. Prof Menzel creates a curriculum to inspire.
Professor Menzel is amazing! She works with you and understands that life happens. She is very approachable for feedback on papers. Professor Menzel is very passionate about the course and her students!
I took GENWS 103 with Professor Menzel (this wasn't a course option above) and she was so caring and understanding when personal matters arose and granted extensions when appropriate. She truly cares about her students and it shows even in a lecture hall of 200+ people. The course is very well organized and has great content.
She was nice, so nice! But so unorganized, readings would be (largely) clearly laid out in the syllabus but then wouldn't be posted or available until the night before or morning of class. Yet you were still expected to be able to discuss them in class. Lectures were unorganized, and often repetitive.
