Prof. Wanner might like to teach more practical concepts to her students.

She won't recognize who you are after graduation. Be prepared.

She was okay, but rather cold and not overly insightful. She pushes old theories that won't be used after grad school.

I really like Prof. Wanner. She's really nice and actually kinda funny in her lectures sometimes. She's very smart and passionate about the topics in class, and she's really nice. Her lectures are well organized, and she posts lots of resources to Canvas. She makes an effort to learn your name, and she cares that her class does well.

Prof Wanner is a real gem. She is so sweet, funny and clearly passionate about teaching the English language. Her lectures can get boring, but discussion sections are pretty fun. Each week you read the chapter in the textbook and take a quiz, then have 2 lectures on that chapter, complete the hw (easy) and then have discussion. NO ESSAYS

Proff. Wanner's class is not an easy A, but she is a fair grader. Her lectures are interesting and well formatted, which is good as the book she required was not very helpful, except for the practice problems. She does have great notes she publishes on canvas. All in all, if you want to learn, she's a great way to go.

Good, clear speaker and fair grader. Reasonable amount of work, though the material is pretty abstract. Textbook is not mandatory. We had one take home exam and one open book exam.

I took two classes with Professor Wanner -- 314 and 514. She is a real gem of a professor. She loves the material and is passionate about what she teaches, and it really shows because her lectures are always engaging. She is always available to help if you have any questions. I highly recommend her syntax courses, but only if you love linguistics.

Presents admittedly dry material in an interesting and engaging way. She is clear, concise, and also charming, with a good sense of humour. Although grammar can be tedious, she highlights the underlying structure and order that make language so interesting. Her clear instruction is especially ideal for the fast-paced summer course.

Anja is great. I took 324 for fun and ended up loving the class so much I took 329 as well. If you don't find English syntax interesting, this is not the class for you. Attendance is mandatory, but you have to go anyway or you'll be completely lost if you have no prior experience diagramming sentences. Generally a fair grader, especially on exams.

Prof. Wanner knows her grammar. The class is tough (especially if you never learned how to diagram a sentence in pre-college years), but valuable. Overall, a great teacher for this subject matter.

Professor Wanner is great. She takes the subject seriously, is patient, and very clear, very organized. Very decent grader. I just loved the class.

A wonderful professor. She helped me to appreciate English syntax!

She's a very well-organized, well-spoken person who explains the concepts well. However, this class was so easy and slow-paced that I wanted to impale myself on her document camera. I suppose that's what happens when you have to teach syntax to future middle school English teachers instead of future linguists. Take Linguistics 330.

She's German and her orderliness proves it. She's vey passionate about everything she teaches and strives to improve classes from one semester to the next. She is always very responsive to any questions and is always willing to help with anything, but don't ask for extensions, special treatment, etc. She's very by the book.

Prof. Wanner is very knowledgeable and very well organized. She was never late for class, never sick, never unprepared. In fact, everything is so perfect, it's scary. I was, and continue to be, rather intimidated by her. The stress of Prof. Wanner's 906 class has made my cry on more than one occasion (the only class that ever has).
