He's the funniest professor in the CS department—I didn't go to any lectures, but when I was cramming for exams, I actually wished I had. I would voluntarily listent to his stories and unsolicited life advice. He does water down the course heavily tho. So if you're here for vibes, he's your guy. If you're here to learn, maybe look elsewhere.
Funniest Professor I've ever had. He is somehow always able to crack jokes in the middle of the lecture despite seemingly boring (database) topics. 10/10 take his class if you can
TAKE THE CLASS WITH ANHAI. Professor 2% created genuinely engaging lectures filled with iconic quotes, jokes, as well as the class you actually signed up for. It's only graded by two exams and five group assignments. The assignments are all manageable and the exams connect to the lectures well. Is this a good or bad thing? "It depends."
Overall great guy
Prof. AnHai is an expert in data science with strong industry experience. Lectures are informative and funny, and he includes a lot of advice about how things work in industry. The class was graded from 2 exams (short answer, just attend class and it's easy) and a group project. However, he provides minimal grading feedback. I think most got an A.
Hilarious professor that is passionate about the field of database systems. Elucidates complex topics with plenty of in-lecture examples and extra notes to read. Cares deeply about the success of his students and gave a variety of life and career advice in many lectures, take this class with him if you can!
Very funny and engaging, makes the content easy to learn
Anhai is a nice guy but if I had to describe him in one word, it would be LAZY. He barely takes lectures and the exams are uninspiring, to say the least (basically if you can cram definitions, you do well). Take him if you need a chill course and don't plan to learn a lot from it.
An Hai was the best CS professor I've ever had. He's also a brilliant data scientist and he explained complex concepts in a clear way. His lectures were hilarious and full of career, dating, and life advice. He even sent a long email after final grades were posted to give extra advice to the class. He truly cares about his students.
Cool prof
He's a great guy who is willing and able to help his students. He seems to care about that his students understand the content but isn't super pushy about needing to learn unnecessary specifics. He also is really funny and makes lectures as bearable as lecture can be. I would definitely take a course with AnHai again if I had the choice.
Professor Doan is brilliant and down to earth. Database management systems expressed in terms of boats, sailors and beer.
The class is pretty easy as CS classes go. The textbook sucks so its important to go to lectures. There's too much covered to really have time to practice and get comfortable with things and as such, the assignments are superficial.
