Dense, boring, choppy lectures. She uses questions and examples to explain material rather than explaining concepts thoroughly. Lecture slides are hard to follow. Attendance is required. Discussion posts are graded really harshly IMO. DIrections unclear and makes it difficult to receive full points on assignments and exams.
Really did not enjoy her lectures. Super slow talker and takes very long pauses making it hard to be engaged with the content. There were never past exams, exam reviews, or anything clarifying what was actually on the exam. Says a lot of words but doesn't get to the point. Many readings. Only uses examples and questions during lecture to teach.
Dr. Bennett is an amazing professor. Well organized, and understanding of students' time and what is demanded of them. She made the course manageable and allowed many extensions for students who asked for them. While the IRP project was hard, she broke it up into chunks so that it was a process, so that we weren't tasked with the work all at once.
Professor Bennett was nice and you could tell she cared a lot about her students. She was accessible outside of class and flexible with due dates, which was helpful. Lectures can be repetitive of the textbook and the IRP isn't fun, but she broke it up into manageable chunks. The class starts off easy, but gets more fast-paced in the last month.
Although the lectures were a little dry and repetitive, Prof. Bennett was a very nice and accomodating teacher. She allowed extensions if students showed concern and was pretty accessible outside of class. The IRP was definitely not fun, but she made it somewhat manageable.
Professor Bennett is very caring and takes time to explain the topics and procedures in class. Grading criteria was clear. I really appreciated how available and caring she was! Would recommend.
This class sucks. However, Prof. Bennett was personable and understanding in many situations. Regardless, the grading was on the harsh side for the bigger assignments and the exams were not easy. Cried one too many times about the IRP assignment that is due. Take this over the summer if you can to avoid the giant research paper.
This has been the worst experience of my college career. There is such poor communication regarding homework and projects. On top of that the entire staff is toxic and shames any student for asking questions. Allyson would literally have a pull question and if you choose the wrong answer she would rip you apart. Do not take if you don't have to.
This was the absolute worst class I have ever taken in my life. DO NOT take this class if you don't have to. The teaching team is less than helpful and absolutely suck. They will claim assignments are low stakes and informal but then grade strictly. They are very unclear in the directions for assignments and expect way too much out of you.
Dr. Bennett is fantastic. She really motivates you and keeps you on track. Her real world situations make the class more interesting and understandable. Finally, if the majority of the class struggles with a topic, she goes back and reviews. I loved her so much that I'm taking another one of her classes!!
Allyson is the single best professor I've ever had. Literally life changing. She really cares about her students and devotes a lot of time in making sure they get the most out of the class. However, if you don't do anything and don't return the caring you won't pass - seems fair to me.
This class had a ton of homework and was sometimes hard to keep up with, but it is definitely manageable. Bennett is very good at making sure everyone understands the material before she moves forward. Takes a while to get grades back but most of them were completion grades.
