Adam is a great guy and is super passionate about finance. He is insanely smart so he can digress, but he will really give you a deep understanding about finance. Goofy and funny, wants you to do well.

Took the class 4 years ago. Still using knowledge from the class today. Best I've ever had.

Amazing professor - the best I have had. Very caring guy who keeps lectures interesting with his funny comments and stories. Grade consists of 5 exams. Exams are relatively easy, as he releases practice exams that cover (almost) all of the concepts needed for the exam. Highly recommend.

Best professor I have had. He makes class interesting with his stories and random comments, and it is clear that he is passionate about finance. Extremely willing to help outside of class. Exams are easy with practice questions very similar to (or the same as) the exam questions. Highly recommend.

One of, if not my favorites in the finance department. Great at explaining the complicated concepts in derivatives, great course administration with online lectures, and fair exams.

Had Dr. Smedema for two different upper-level finance courses two semesters straight. This guy is the best. Records his lectures, gives helpful modules to study with, and will never throw any surprises at you on tests. If you have the opportunity to take a class with him, do it over any other professor. You will not regret it.

Courses grade consists of 12 problem sets and 3 unit exams and if you do the problem sets the exams should be a breeze. Quantity of work was not bad. I did most of my studying the week of the exams and would read the other week there wasn't one. Highly recommend him Adam for this course, and its a shame he doesn't teach during the semester.

Overall grade is determined by 12 problem sets and 3 unit tests. There are 3 Unit tests and the questions are pretty similar to problem sets and practice tests. If you complete all tasks in the module (read textbook, watch lecture, and practice) , you will get at least an AB for this class! And Dr. Smedema will always help you as you need!

Very upbeat and chill dude. He's good at explaining tricky concepts. The class is structured as 4 12 point tests, 2 24 point cases, and 12 4 point problem sets. That's a total of 144 points and 133 is the min for an A. It's an easy class but low margin for error. Tests are similar to prob sets and practice tests he gives you. Make sure to read book

Adam is a fantastic young professor who related really well to our class. The first half of the class was extremely easy and was basically just Finance 300 over again. The second half was more difficult but built off of the first half stuff. I liked Adam a lot and would definitely recommend him.
