Absolutely love Dr. Lokuta! He cares a lot about the students and the content he is teaching, and he's really freaking good at what he does. He's hilarious and sets up the courses for your success. You will do well if you put in the work. Diligently watch the prelectures and go to lab.
Dr. Lokuta is an amazing professor, and is extremely helpful. The content is interesting, but difficult and very fast-pasted. Lots of mini-lectures online, probably about close to 3 or 4 hours worth of video watching if you really want to understand the content being addressed. Getting a good grade: it's doable, but a lot of work.
Drew is awesome. Hard class but quality is really good you just need to put a lot of effort in.
Lokuta is an energetic and enthusiastic professor who truly cares about his students. When I took Phys 335 the class structure changed to mini video lectures followed by two in person labs per week. I found this super helpful because I learned best through doing hands-on activities and asking him questions.
Dr. Lokuta is an excellent professor and a compassionate human. He extremely knowledgable in the fields of physiology and biochemistry. He is a great lecturer and is never dry to listen to. He truly cares for his students inside and outside of the classroom. He gives clear learning objectives which can be used to do well on exams. Take his class!
Andrew Lokuta is truly the best professor I've ever had. He cares about his students success in his class and as long as you put in the work, he will not let you fail. Utilize his office hours, even without having questions you will learn something every time.
Just ask him how to pass his class and he will make it happen!
Dr. Lokuta is amazing. It is clear that he's been doing his job for a long time and has done it very well. He does a great job explaining concepts to students. He just has cool ways of explaining the content helping it stick in your head. Show up to the office hours!!!! Very interesting class.
Dr. Lokuta was the best professor I have ever had in my entire academic career. He made physiology digestible and understandable despite having to move at a fast pace. He would not continue his lectures until he was certain everyone understood difficult concepts. If you have the opportunity to take his class take it, you will not regret it.
Dr. Lokuta was a great lecturer and he made every lecture interesting and always gave the impression that he cared about students and the subject that he was teaching.
Dr. Lokuta is a super engaging professor and you can tell he cares about the success of his students. Although the content of this class is pretty difficult at times, he does his best to give us the resources to succeed and to make content applicable and interesting. You need to put a lot of effort into this class to succeed, but Lokuta is great.
Dr. Lokuta is by far my favorite professor I have had at UW-Madison. Although the content is tricky and there is a lot to know, he makes lecture very interesting and has made the class audibly laugh out loud at least one time each lecture.
Professor Lokuta is my favorite professor that I have had so far at UW. His lectures are very engaging, and in them, he lays out exactly what is expected from us on the exams/quizzes. He is very passionate about physiology and does his best to explain it in ways that make sense to us. I thoroughly enjoy this class and having him as my professor.
Prof. Lokuta is so engaging in lecture. He truly enjoys his job and it shows in the way that he attempts to present the information in an interesting way that can appeal to most people. The information in this class is difficult and requires a lot of time studying, but he makes that much easier by being so accessible.
Very experienced professor-he knows what kids are going to ask so he answers those questions literally in his lecture. He is very thorough and funny (sometimes, gets off track but if anything, it helps me remember the concepts better). And most importantly- He makes the students understand WHY the material is important in and out of class.
Dr. Lokuta is my favorite professor so far at UW Madison! His lectures are engaging and he takes the time to explain topics that are commonly misunderstood. He makes physiology interesting and relatable. Additionally, I have dealt with some medical issues this semester and he has been very understanding and accommodating.
Drew Lokuta is very down-to-earth and funny, with many dad jokes in lecture. On top of being a professor for several classes, he was my discussion TA, showing how passionate he is not only about the class content, but education itself. Physiology is a notoriously difficult class, but I certainly wouldn't have passed if I had anyone other than him.
Drew makes lectures interesting and fun, you can tell he's very passionate about what he teaches. He always comes with a great attitude, telling hilarious jokes and making everyone feel comfortable. He is my favorite professor I've had so far at UW.
Dr. Lokuta is clearly passionate about teaching. He is enthusiastic and really wants his students to learn. That being said, this class is a LOT of work-probably one of the only where the 2-3 hours of studying/credit outside of class actually applies. Knowing details is key to success. I would suggest a light semester if you want to take this class
Very fun, easy to learn from
Dr. Lokuta is a great lecturer and you can tell he is truly passionate about what he teaches. Super accessible outside of class and is always happy to help and answer questions. The class itself is very rigorous, with a lot of reading, learning objectives, content and is very exam heavy, but Dr. Lokuta truly wants to see you succeed.
Took over summer and it was definitely fast-paced and had to spend a couple of hours each day watching pre-lecture videos/reading the book(which is technically optional, but I thought it was helpful). 92% of your grade is divided between 4 closed-note exams (no Honorlock). He is a great lecturer, the labs are a bit tedious, but overall great class.
Very challenging, but organized class. There are many ways to get help, but ultimately the content of the course is very thick, so there is a ton of prep to do well. Course grade comes from 92% exams, and they are not curved, so you need to do well. They do add % points based on the slope of your exam performance, though. Study lab material lots!
Dr. Lokuta is hilarious and makes online learning bearable. I enjoyed his lectures and he made me enthusiastic about the material. His exams were always straightforward and he'd clarify important concepts he'd test on. He didn't deter students from the material and just wanted everyone to succeed. One of the best professors on campus hands down!
Dr. Lokuta is an interesting person, but he is an amazing professor. He truly cares about his students, and he explains things as many times as you need. During COVID, it was hard to fully engage but he still made it easy to learn the material.
One of the best professors at UW-Madison. Engages students with amazing lectures, absolutely caring and accommodating, willing to help us succeed.
Dr. Lokuta is the best professor I have ever had at Madison, and I am a senior. Never have I met somebody more knowledgeable, caring and able to convey complex information across as easily as him. Such an interesting guy, and makes this class interesting. Hard class but Lokuta makes at way more enjoyable.
Best lecturer I've ever had at UW (and I'm in my fifth year). He is passionate about the topic and passionate about teaching which is rare at such a research-heavy school. Made me want to learn more about such an important topic. Lectures and reading the textbook are important, but he'll answer any question by email quickly. Highly recommend.
I really liked Dr. Lokuta, however he is not the best for an online class. I really wish I had the opportunity to have him in person because he seems very engaging and always wants to make sure his students learn. Good sense of humor.
Dr. Lokuta taught 2 out of the 4 units in phys, and I understood his units so much better. He's the type of teacher who can see things from a student's perspective, and is willing to slow down and explain super complex things in really basic terms. I still remember so much of what he taught me, months later.
Really good professor, explains things well, and gives tips on how to remember tough concepts as this class does require a lot of memorization. Really important to know HOW things happen in this class and not just WHAT happens. Overall, a really cool and funny professor!
Lokuta is very passionate about his subject and does a good job keeping lectures interesting. The course covers a lot of material, but if you put in the work you can do well. He is very accessible in office hours. Exams are very comprehensive and require you to really understand everything that is covered in lecture. Do not get behind in class.
Dr. Lokuta teaches 2/4 units for physiology. They are worthwhile and he makes the lectures interesting with his explanations and ("bad") jokes. You HAVE to put in the time for this material, it's just too dense not to. He does a good job of explaining things but you have to put forth the effort outside. Lectures are recorded & put online.
THIS GUY IS GOOD. I wish he taught the entire semester instead of only teaching 2/4 organ systems. He's funny and occasionally makes TV references (e.g GOT). He really tries to make sure his students understand what's going on and encourages questions. He explains the material better than any science professor I've known.
I absolutely loved Lokuta for a professor. He was funny and made the material fun and interesting. Tests were challenging but you if study they were fair. Class itself is very difficult but the material is interesting and he presents with a ton of passion for physiology. Lectures are recorded each day to watch again
Dr. Lokuta is a very witty, entertaining professor. He very obviously LOVES physiology and will help you really understand the material. His exam questions are difficult, but he expects you to put in the work so that's fair. I've never heard so many "bad" jokes (mostly Dad jokes) in my life, but they make lectures more worthwhile.
His test was the hardest of the three professors who taught this class. He is very easy to listen to and clear. He really wants to help. Go in to office hours.
Lokuta is a great professor! He's EXTREMELY excited about physiology and is very helpful when you need it. His lectures are entertaining, and his jokes are really bad (in a good way). This class is very difficult but if you go to his office hours and keep up with the material you'll be fine.
Lokuta is super enthusiastic about his work and is all around a good guy. He knows how to make a crowd laugh. Content was super dense and difficult to understand. Definitely attend his office hours though, he LOVES questions and helping you out.
Dr. Lokuta is awesome, makes lectures interesting, lover his Healthy Living Through Education tips!
Prepare yourself for dad jokes galore. Hilarious and amazing professor, but be prepared to work.
Study at least a week in advance for exams and you will get an A. Lokuta is a great professor.
Excellent professor, excellent course. Definitely a lot of information to learn but the way in which the material is presented makes you want to learn it! One of my favorite professors!
Quirky? Yes. Funny? some might say. Makes jokes and laughs at them himself if nobody else does. Sometimes I think he regrets not being a comedian, and tries hard(maybe too hard) to be one in lecture. However, he was able to keep my attention most of the time, cares that we actually learn the information, is very nice, and overall effective.Go BME!
I think Dr. Lokuta is one of the best teachers I have ever had one campus. He truly cares that you learn the material and is so thorough in how he explains concepts. He is also extremely funny. I would HIGHLY recommend taking this class if you are interested in Physiology, you will learn so much.
Dr. Lokuta is this universities premiere educator. His focus is not on research but on education and the quality of this course reflects that. Studying for the MCAT was so much easier thanks to Dr. Lokuta. He's also great to talk to one-on-one--office hours are highly recommended.
Great professor. He made physiology much easier than it sounds. He keeps things interesting during lectures and is overall a very effective teacher. Him and the other teaching staff want you to do well in this class and all go the extra mile to make that happen. If you're a science major definitely take this course.
Good professor. Quirky and a bit much at first, but fun once you get used to him. Exams are challenging, but he's more than happy to help in office hours or lab.
One of the greatest profs I've had at the UW in my 7 semesters! Drew is incredibly concise, straightforward, and fair in his expectations. He is a very effective and talented teacher, which can be hard to find at the UW. He's really dorky and funny but it keeps class interesting during the duller topics. Go to class and do the problems!
I think Lokuta is my favorite professor I've ever had. He's a bit quirky, but sometimes he does say very funny things. I don't think I've ever seen someone explain the material so well, especially because he will take 2 or 3 shots at it and explains in a different way each time.
Hard class, hard exams, lots of studying. Suggest a light semester to people taking this class if you can afford it. Spent at least ten hours a week studying. Drew is awesome. Best professor in the class. Go to office hours and join a study group. Take ANAT 328 at the same time. Good way to study for both. Good luck. Very hard but very good
He's great! So funny! Very interesting! You definitely want him if you take physiology!
He's is VERY dorky. Which is awesome. It helps make the class enjoyable even though it is a bit of work.
His good-hearted humor keeps class enjoyable as well.
Lokuta is one of the best professors I've had at UW! He's very enthusiastic about what he teaches and wants students to succeed. Try hard and put in the effort, and you'll get the grade you deserve. Lab was really fun since we got to design our own experiment
The class is very challenging, but Lokuta makes all the information relevant and interesting. He's my favorite professor by far and really wants his students to succeed. Take him if you can!
Great professor! The class was difficult, but use the resources and do the study guide. Go into office hours if you have time. He wants to help you get a good grade, but you must put in the time
Great professor! Him and Dr. Strang made an awesome teaching team. Met them both one on one and the genuinely care about how you do in the class. THis class is very interesting but does require a ton of work outside of class. Read the book, do all the study guide questions and you will be fine
One of the best professors I've ever had. He keeps a complex course interesting and has a great attitude every day, plus he is very approachable. Course material is tough but if you keep up and study you can definitely get an A.
I had him for lab and his quizzes were pretty fair if you memorize everything in the lab reports. But I heard he's tougher during lecture. He's very enthusiastic and gives great explanations. And he's really nice.
Really great guy. Quite clear and enthusiastic about the material. Has an incredibly cheesy sense of humor but if you don't take yourself seriously (which is hard for a lot of college students) it actually makes lab and lecture more entertaining and easier to focus on. Recommended
Hands down, Lokuta is the man. He keeps lecture interesting and he's quite funny. Tests are difficult and require a lot of work, but if you keep up with the study guide and understand the underlying concepts, an A is easily achievable.
great prof, tests are hard, lectures on itunes, need to work hard to do well, dont fall behind, interesting class
Same as prof strang, who teaches the class with lokuta sometimes. Hard class, lots of work required, but lokuta makes lots of jokes and is so helpful. Go to lecture! it makes learning the material so much easier!
one of the best professors i have ever had. go to office hours. he is incredibly helpful, and very enthusiastic about the material. the class is definitely a challenge, but he makes it pretty fun. his jokes can be a bit corny, but overall, he's a really good guy.
Interesting sense of humor. Always cracking jokes. Pretty clear about the material he lectures on. Tests aren't too bad. Overall, pretty good professor.
The labs were interesting, but the quizes were way too hard! They were very picky and you do not get to see the quizes unless you go to office hours. He was funny though...
He made the material seem easy during class, but his study questions and exams were very very rough.
good professor, clear and helpful
He is funny if you are not sheltered, and have a somewhat dry sense of humor. Overall, good class, not too much work, fair exams. A lot easier to get a better grade if you just come to lecture and keep caught up on readings, and study guide questions.

Tries to be funny and fails. Lots of notes. Best Book Ever.
